FDA still doesn't have the resources to review GRAS determinations so I'm curious if this new directive will result in any new ideas. AI reviews of the evidence? Private rights of action for consumers that pass review responsibility to courts? User fees for food ingredient reviews?
RFK Jr. seeks to tighten loophole allowing chemicals in U.S. food supply

It certainly looks like this delay won't result in any substantive changes to the final rule but that doesn't mean there will be no amendments in the making to try to align the "healthy" definition to the Secretary's views on seed oils.

This study has to be one of the funniest cases of salami-slicing in research I've ever seen. I don't go into this in my blog, because it's very technical, but for those who are interested...
A new study on omega-3 supplements has gone viral, but the data is less than compelling.

It's unlikely that omega-3s slow aging in any meaningful way.

My new piece.

Good. FDA's mission is nonpartisan and benefits everyone. There's always room for improvement but I can't think of a single program at the agency that shouldn't exist at all.

Last week I:
- woke in the morning
- stepped outside
- took a deep breath
- got real high
- screamed from the top of my lungs "what's going on?!"
To Whom It May Concern:

My main accomplishments from last week are as follows:

1. I drank a whiskey drink
2. I drank a vodka drink
3. I drank a lager drink, I drank a cider drink
4. I sang the songs that remind me of the good times
5. I sang the songs that remind me of the better times

Sincerely,
Dear Manager,

Last week was a bit of a hurricane, however, I:
- Raced cars
- Assessed lasers, aeroplanes
- Managed a duck blur
- Solved a mystery
- Rewrote history

Here we go again with another round of people panicking trying to process bits of info they don't understand. If only we had a class of professionals whose job it was to chase down the facts and present them fully and in context while the rest of us do our jobs.

I got the regular new/updated recall report today so this must not be as widely applicable as the Post is reporting. Or maybe routine automated reports are exempt.
