Social scientist at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) studying agrarian change in Sweden and Ukraine. Places where I sometimes show up -- Stockholm, Uppsala, Tennessee, Ukraine
I very much agree with the sentiment... I'm unsure on how best to implement or enforce it.
I think scientists should be limited to publishing no more than 1 paper a year as fist author, and no more than 2 as a collaborating author. That's it. Maybe even less.

Tenure / review / grant review committees should enforce this.

It might force people to write fewer, but better, pieces.

Interviews are great because if you talk with people for long enough you always hear something deeply interesting.

Professionals with a public role can be difficult, because they have worked hard to polish their persona, but 'ordinary people' will say the most magical realist stuff almost instantly

A lot of Americans, even liberal ones, underestimate how much anger is building up towards Washington among those British and German social groups who were once the most fervent advocates for the alliance with the United States
Seeing a lot of left-leaning people express shock at this, but it's entirely what I'd expect from the MoS, and their readers - not doing so is a classic example of not understanding your political opponents.

I was there... Good speeches -- I just hope that there is follow up on the nice words.

Igår berättade vår ukrainska kompis Yulia att hennes gamla lågstadieskola just bombats till grus, ihop med det lilla bageriet intill, där hon och andra barn ibland fick bullar efter skolan. Om nån undrar vad Ryssland håller på med.
