Worth the read …

I wrote about the administration’s “national design studio,” and how its shoddy construction isn’t a mistake. It’s a clear signal of priorities, and ones we need to actively, urgently rebuke. ethanmarcotte.com/wrote/a-noti...

Worth the read:

“This might be the work of our time! Not to choose between despair and hope, but to compost our despair into hope, to transform our grief into gratitude, and to midwife the more beautiful world that wants to be born from the mourning of the old.” – @arn.is

A year ago I wasn’t sure I’d get here again. Bib pickup for Saturday’s @21KdeMontréal 5k complete.

And tonight’s debate is on early ⏰ So less multitasking with devices in both cases 😎
Still trying to figure out who forget to check the Habs home game schedule when choosing the dates for the election debates – and the French debate no less 🤦🏻‍♀️

I didn’t have getting weepy watching Cory Booker hold the floor for 25+ hours on my 2025 bingo card. This timeline definitely has some unexpected twists.

I don’t always agree with my baby brother, but he weaves a readable and interesting argument …

Unexpected sunshine between last night’s snow and tomorrow’s freezing rain means I ran outside for the first time this spring!

Waking up to this news … thx @keithdunn.bsky.social for the yeoman service that lets us all follow #BM100! Until next year …
The 2025 Barkley Marathons is over. There are no finishers. #BM100

To stay up and see if the fun run happens? Or sleep? #bm100

If I have this right, that leaves Tomo, John and Seb on loop 3? #bm100
Maxime Gauduin quit on Loop 3 with no pages and is tapped out. Three runners remain in the race. #BM100

C’est l’année des français! #bm100
Sébastien Raichon finished Loop 2 in 25:29:15; Maxime Gauduin in 25:29:16. #BM100

And what remains are aspirations of fun runs … #bm100
24 hours into the #BM100 no runners have completed Loop 2.

This is a brutal year … waiting to hear post race stories of course changes and conditions #BM100
The slowest loop 2 time to ever get a sub 36h fun run (and thus be allowed to attempt loop 4) was Jared Campbell in 2013 with 22:53:38.... that's about to elapse in this year's race. #bm100

Given all the #bm100 chat
on here at the moment, this photo sits proudly above my desk. Bought as inspiration when @lilycanter.bsky.social and I were finishing the Ultra Women book (out in May)

Confirmed 40 starters for loop 1. Even if every single loop 2 starter finished the loop, this year would still be roughly in the middle in terms of the number of loop 2 finishers. #bm100

And then there were 9. Calling it a night … and wondering what I’ll wake up to #BM109
Ten runners completed Loop 1 within the time limit; 9 continued to Loop 2. 14 runners have been tapped out; 16 remain on Loop 1 and will be tapped out when they return. #BM100

‘I’m Barkley OK’ is my new answer to all questions about how I feel after treatment.
The next runner to finish Loop 1 came in at 11:59:02.

laz: Are you ok?

Runner: I’m Barkley ok.

30% of the field have voluntarily dropped and made their way back to the gate before a single cutoff has been hit. So far.

Barring a group of latecomers, this could be the harshest first loop that we have records for. Like, going back to the 1980s 3 loop years. Certainly of the modern era. #bm100
