In the middle of a “first-ever MCU rewatch + classics I never saw” era

The wind today is outrageous. Wind chill is … 3 degrees.

Doomsday hype has me finally rewatching MCU films (despite being a Marvel dorkass since the 80s, I just don’t rewatch movies much).

I’m only four in so far and the biggest surprise that I can barely type is that I think I like Iron Man 2 more than the first one …

Found the old Toys R Us I worked at from 99-04 in MS Flight Sim.

1 - can’t believe the logo is so clearly visible! But it obvi hasn’t been a TRU for about 10 years

2 - the silent hill low poly aesthetic is really selling the lich state of this building IRL lol

MK remains my favorite video game movie to date. Knowingly cheesy when it wants to be with solid choreography, amazing sets, great cast, and formative 90s soundtrack. It’s not perfect but it is FUN

No small part of its excellence is thanks to Cary’s intensity. RIP!

Finished Clair Obscur, what a game. Third act is something else, resolution of the story truly thought provoking, complicated, memorable. It’s in the same league as FFX for me, battle system maybe even more so

Really love that, despite how old it is and how seemingly absent it is from the modern world, Weekend At Bernie’s remains the most popular (only?) reference for propping up a dead thing/idea/concept and just hoping no one notices. Profound cultural impact

Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995!

The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

80s movies, comics, toys really leaned into gross-out monsters / creatures, to the point where this shows up in your mailbox and barely registers. We’re out here watching Predator and Robocop and The Gate, our toys are covered in slime
Nintendo Power's September/October '88 issue featured Konami's Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, an action RPG for the NES

The controversial and creepy cover has an armored Simon Belmont holding the decapitated head of Dracula; a nod to the game's quest to recover the vampire's dismembered body parts!

Heckuva day 30 years ago on 9/9/95:
-Saw Mortal Kombat for the 4th time, still one of the greats, formative soundtrack

-Original PlayStation launch day, traded in $400 of stuff -all with receipts because I was a weirdo- and Babbages had to give me the console and two games for free

All these years later, seeing this logo and hearing this sound effect still make me feel like I'm about to watch "news" that my parents wouldn't want me to watch.

Thinking about my old work desk, and how little space I actually had for … a keyboard.

Gave away most of these figures since then 😭

Vague memories of Wrath of Khan and “the one with the whales” on TV, then around 89-90 started catching alternating TOS/TNG reruns.

Seeing S2 stuff like Where Silence Has Lease and Q Who made me want to watch every day. By 92 I was watching new eps live and gorging on multiple reruns a day
Trekkies: If you see this post your first experience with Star Trek.

*I need to add a bit of clarification to this. I remember my grandmother watching TOS when she'd babysit me while my parents were in work, and I know I'd seen bits of either Star Trek III or IV.
