Supporting the revolution for federal democracy in Myanmar
#WhatsHappeningInMyanmar

I love solidarity . books . mutual aid . equity . collective liberation
#MilkTeaAlliance friends -- if you're passing through ChiangMai, do feel free to visit 4Seas Nimman and check out our humble poster exhibit about protests in Myanmar.

It also highlights artisans working to generate livelihood through these hard days. The exhibit will be open thru Nov 6th.

A few years ago, I warned that we were entering a Second Nadir. Some deemed that hyperbolic. Most had never heard of the first one. The Nadir was a term coined by historian Rayford Logan to talk about the period when Black Americans lost the rights they had just gained following slavery.

We can’t defeat fascism in the US without defeating US imperialism abroad. The liberal resistance to Trump must understand the connection between fascism at home and US violence abroad—including support for the genocidal, fascist and extraordinarily belligerent Israeli regime. No kings means no war.

HURFOM is among the CSOs calling for localized support in response to the devastating earthquake in Burma: "Aid agencies must ensure relief is not exploited by the military junta."📣
Today 265 CSOs call on intl community to mobilize resources and direct disaster relief to earthquake-torn #Myanmar thru effective channels via National Unity Govt, EROs and civil society.

🚨 Emergency aid—thru any implementors—must NOT be weaponized by the junta!

A week of fresh new horrors for #Myanmar. These images are from an aid team I work with, currently supporting the Inlay Lake area, where many floating villages were decimated by the earthquake.

Death toll is over 1600 now and expected to rise.

BREAKING: Senate just UNANIMOUSLY restored $1.1 billion for DC local govt that was eliminated

Why?

Because Senators of BOTH parties work in DC - and most have homes there - and none of them want to be in a hellhole

Now - try applying that same logic to THE REST OF THE COUNTRY

I'm going to start switching the words "politics" and "political" for the word "freedom" to test my right-leaning ppl.

Those who decry "politics" as dirty also love to wax on about their freedom.
But when you get down to it "politics" is all about different freedoms, who gets them, and who doesn't.

So, the Wizard of Oz is running America, it would appear.
NEW non-clarifying clarifications about Elon Musk's employee status filed just now in a NM-led lawsuit:
—Musk, as a presidential senior adviser, "has no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself." He is also not DOGE's administrator.

So maddening. But as @vietthanhnguyen.bsky.social says, we need to make jokes and fight. Hold on to levity in the midst of it all. It's the only way.
One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

Burma is the one to watch. Regime falling is not a question of if, but when.

Another clear example of how Resistance governance in Burma is unambiguously better for everyone.

The scale of corruption and mismanagement in Junta-controlled areas is astounding.
Better opposition governance helped the Syrian regime to fall. Burma's next.

I'm one of the many, many people who had a job/project suspended this week by order of the Trump administration.

This order impacts so many vulnerable people who will have basic things like food, and lifesaving medicine ripped away with no notice. And this is a wasteful way to go about it!

I can't process how cruel this is. USAID has plenty of problems but this is money that is already committed under contracts, in many cases for basic needs for very vulnerable people. Food, education, health care.
I don't think the scale of suffering that the suspension of USaid will unleash is properly understood.

The stop work orders in Bangladesh will mean the already dire situation of the Rohingya in refugee camps will worsen putting them at even greater risk.

This is just one example.

Books and history are also the antidote to despair.

I read this graphic novel last year, set in Seattle, based on the story of a Sephardic Jewish man who helped saved many Japanese American properties after these communities were incarcerated.
