Better hope the Gulf stays quiet, that's a ton of fuel for any homegrown systems... 😬
The ocean heat content averaged over the Gulf of Mexico is now the highest on record -- surpassing even the crazy-high values we saw just last year.

Rain is coming, and it looks like it could be a lot! 👀 #okwx

The fact something like this is even being considered is pretty depressing. This isn't final, and Congress has the final say on this, but safe to say this would do so much damage to our current weather research framework.
NOAA's FY26 Congressional Justification is out. Screenshot is from Page 190 (OAR-10). A small number of positions from OAR are transferred to NWS, but otherwise there are a lot of zeroes, consistent w/ previous news. Congress ultimately is responsible for budgets, so we'll see what they do.

2024 data is now finally available on @tornadoarchive.com!
v2.3.1 is live, which includes the 2024 US data and the Philippines data! This also includes the globe view and bug fixes for European environment data and missing wind barbs for all environment data on some machines.

Springtime has returned, and so has severe weather potential! The tornado potential for this evening into tonight has increased slightly from OKC up towards Tulsa. Large hail and damaging winds are also possible, with some potential for significant hail across Central OK. Stay aware tonight! #okwx

Very concerned. Tomorrow is the real deal. Extreme to potentially historic fire danger for E OK, including the Tulsa metro. This is as serious as it gets. Wind gusts of 55-65 mph along with very dry conditions will allow any fires tomorrow to very quickly explode out of control. Be safe!! #okwx

FOX 35 out of Orlando, FL had a pretty wild experience this morning. A tornado either came extremely close to, or directly hit their station live on air! Pretty crazy stuff. #flwx

This impacts the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction and the Radar Operations Center. Losing these buildings would cause irreparable damage to not just weather model operations but also radar as well. If this goes through, many more people will die from disasters, full stop.
NEW: The Trump admin has informed NOAA that two buildings that are critical for weather forecasting will have their leases canceled. If this comes to pass, it's a really big deal. Includes weather fcst nerve center in College Park, Md.: www.axios.com/2025/03/03/d...

Bright meteor over the Tulsa metro around 8:55 PM tonight! This was looking north. #meteor #okwx

Early thoughts on Tuesday's winter storm. The heaviest snow will fall across NE OK, mainly N of Tulsa. Localized amounts of 10+" are possible in that zone. Tulsa looks to be about 3 to 7", with OKC looking at 1 to 3". Near blizzard conditions in NE OK. Stay tuned to the latest forecast! #okwx

I feel like I'm going crazy. Watching your potential future career being torn down in front you, all because it's for "government efficiency" (which of course it's not), is the most maddening and defeating feeling I've felt in a while. I implore you, talk to your local congressman. Save the NWS.

Unsurprisingly, the shallow cold airmass is already coming quicker than models projected. It's 9 pm and we already have the freezing line in the Tulsa metro. Safe to say, winter weather is on its way tonight! #okwx

This should be ringing MAJOR alarm bells for anyone remotely related to weather and meteorology as a whole. This could go south very quickly for NOAA and even the NWS.

Man, what a winter storm this has been for Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. Most of the area experienced over 6 inches of snow, with SE Oklahoma into Arkansas reaching, if not even exceeding a foot in spots. This was a storm that won't be forgotten anytime soon! #okwx #arwx

Thursday and Friday are very quickly appearing more and more like an impactful winter storm across parts of Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. Lots can, and will change, but given the signals in the ensembles, it's looking more likely something significant could occur. #okwx #arwx #txwx

Decent little burst of snow in the Tulsa metro! Quickly led to a bit of blowing snow due to the very gusty winds in the area. #okwx

Just had a rare tornado warning for San Francisco! Looks like this is the first ever tornado warning for San Francisco County since at least the 1980s (as far back as the records go I could find!) #cawx

Here's the event map from the American Meteor Society showing all the reports associated with yesterday's daytime meteor. It was visible across much of Northern Oklahoma and Southern Kansas. It's estimated the meteor traveled from SE to NW near Wichita (the blue arrow). #okwx #kswx #meteor
