Apparently a new bond is being considered. The CEO of @cahsra.bsky.social is HUSTLING!
California High Speed Rail is supported by 62% of Californians, which is more than the 52% of us who voted for Prop 1A in 2008. That being said, what’s stopping us from running another bond measure for the project? We still need to fund the tunnels to LA and the Bay from the Valley.

Bay Area transit just had one of its most politically successful legislative sessions in part because of @transbaycoalition.bsky.social & our leadership in the pro-transit community.

But there is still a lot of work ahead - so come party it up & help raise funds to strengthen transit advocacy.

Sam Singer is now officially defending a *checks notes* botched radioactive shipyard cleanup in a Black neighborhood.

Had the immense pleasure of joining Davey D and Needa B to talk about the proposed changes to Oakland’s encampment rules and how they will have an overwhelmingly negative impact on our Black and Brown neighbors.

Tune in for more:

Criminalizing Survival: Oakland’s New Black Codes? | KPFA
Davey D opens with the stakes in Oakland and beyond. Cities are floating policies that make it easier to disappear unhoused people, often by criminalizing basic survival. He notes how public narrative...

Scott Wiener appears to be hiring for his congressional run fyi. This race will be interesting as Wiener will probably frame himself as an AOC type figure but without the background or left support to take that lane.

Overnight someone posted these all around my street and in my neighborhood. I don’t know who and I’m trying to figure that out with the help of my neighbors, but I found six while searching the neighborhood and hope my neighbors find and remove the rest.

Everyone in city hall knows Ansel is a bad faith nobody after we genuinely tried working with him. Why does he think he deserves a meeting? Take it up with your Councilmembers bud

If I ran for office how much would Garry Tan spend against me?

I’ll save my bitching about regressive taxes after we save the Bay from regressive transportation cuts. But after we demand more transit funding from the state.

Now that SB79 passed with the promise of lowering rents we will see if filtering works in action and if voters suffering with extremely high housing prices can wait years if not decades for the promise of more affordable housing.

And I’m sorry, but I’m very skeptical that it will work.

I’m sold. Michael Tubbs is my candidate for Lt. Governor because of his strong commitment and work in ending poverty. He is 10000% behind CalCare.

The reactionaries are passing around a fake news article clearly written by AI that the left plans on primarying our fantastic Congresswoman @lateefahsimon.bsky.social, and it is so incredibly laughable that they think we are disappointed in her. She has been one of the best votes in Congress easily

No notes to this Care 4 Community narrative of the Housing Secure anti-eviction grant. Fife did all the work to keep getting it agendized, and somehow is getting none of the credit.

2023 Newsom and co helped set up the normalization of deploying the National guard to cities to “fight crime” or whatever. This time it was a gimmick and it was only a handful of support, but he knew the headlines would be “Newsom Deploys National Gaurd to S.F. with backing of Mayor and DA”

My hot take is the federal oversight over the Oakland police department is good actually and the $1 million we spend a year on it is small fries compared to how much we spend on lawsuits related to policing in Oakland

As an orphan progressive looking for a candidate in this Governor’s race, I think @tonythurmond.bsky.social is the best candidate posed to take the left lane if he wanted to adopt populist Bernie/Zohran style politics. I don’t really see the same opportunity for other candidates.
