I just submitted my design for flag and matching seal to The State Emblems Redesign Commission. I'm appreciating the thoughtful process on this quick timeline. Especially the part that incorporates revisions! #newMNflag
Destiny of the Republic is one of my favorite books, its what the Netflix series Death by Lightning is based on. Its historical non-fiction that reads like a novel. Highly recommend.

The series is great too, just too much to cram into four episodes!

Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President
The inspiration for the Netflix series Death by Lightning – now streaming! • NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The extraordinary account of James Garfield's rise from poverty to the American presidency, and the dramatic history of his assassination and legacy, from the bestselling author of The River of Doubt. "Crisp, concise and revealing history.... A fresh narrative that plumbs some of the most dramatic days in U.S. presidential history." —The Washington Post James Abram Garfield was one of the most extraordinary men ever elected president. Born into abject poverty, he rose to become a wunderkind scholar, a Civil War hero, a renowned congressman, and a reluctant presidential candidate who took on the nation's corrupt political establishment. But four months after Garfield's inauguration in 1881, he was shot in the back by a deranged office-seeker named Charles Guiteau. Garfield survived the attack, but became the object of bitter, behind-the-scenes struggles for power—over his administration, over the nation's future, and, hauntingly, over his medical care. Meticulously researched, epic in scope, and pulsating with an intimate human focus and high-velocity narrative drive, The Destiny of the Republic brings alive a forgotten chapter of U.S. history.Look for Candice Millard’s latest book, River of the Gods.

I've been thinking too much about MLS structure when I'm drawing on maps trying to figure out the divisions.

6 teams in 5 divisions.

Here are the 3 most chaotic ways that will likely be what MLS picks:

1. N to S
2. AL, NL, and/or AAA host city/region
3. Starting in the middle

I think I'm one of the few MNUFC fans in favor of the schedule switch. Being cold sucks but I'll trade it for a better on field product. The schedule will still avoid the worst of winter.

Hang on to your tickets give it a shot.
BREAKING: MLS owners have voted and passed a schedule change. The league will run from the late summer months through May.

This is due to start in summer of 2027. MLS will take winter break in Jan/Feb

As a MNUFC fan, I see the pros and cons, but I'm supporting the switch:

1. Tani sale 3/4 thru season
2. The June SD home match in which we were thrashed without key players on intl break
3. Seeing Allianz not full for fall playoff matches
4. Better summer friendlies are more possible
Sources: MLS owners are expected to vote on flipping to fall-spring calendar at Thursday's BOG meeting. Could happen as soon as 2027.

Also: Changes to competition format expected too, including single league table + divisions.

I mean, I get the appeal of a blackout for the MNUFC match Saturday, but its going to be cold, so I'm going to be wearing my orange puffer coat.

Unless... here me out... attending fans get a Loons Puffer coat? huh? huh? hey?
Everyone looks good in black 🖤

This Sunday afternoon would have been lovely day to watch a #MNUFC playoff match

I'd feel much more comfortable with a calendar switch if #MLS intentionally scheduled matches on weekend afternoons between Oct - April.

With an extra hour of time to kill before this match, will the @loonybinpodcast.bsky.social be in the concourses ahead of the match giving pep talks to what looks like a fanbase expecting the worst? #MNUFC

Looks like the 4 seed for #MNUFC and a 1st Rd vs SEA in a best of 3.

And yet I feel more comfortable than if the Loons got a higher seed against the next batch of teams that would make us use the ball like AUS/POR.

It just feels wrong to *want to play Seattle. Loons fans, who do you want?

I wish Tani the best in Spain, he deserves a shot in Europe. MNUFC had to do it. Biggest sale ever. Pays for even better incoming players.

That said, MNUFC's chances at a trophy this season are now longer. This is the best argument for a schedule switch. I'll freeze for a 🏆.

Biked to Hastings and back today. Lovely trail. Very scenic between Rosemount and Hastings. Saw bison!?!?

Harder than riding to Stillwater, but I really enjoyed it. Fully paved, 50% is new pavement, but it's also very hilly south of 494.

Will do again.

So, Local Public Radio station takes programming from several distributors and independent producers as well as their own self-generated content. They do not have to be a member of NPR. And if they are, that still means they have to have agreements with other producers and distributors.

I like it, don't love it. 7/10

Love:
History
Sponsor on back
BLOCK NUMBER FONT!
Loons wordmark (I hope this gets incorporated into standard merch in reg colors)

Doesn't work:
The collar should wrap around the entire neck
White Dethloon doesn't work, use the Kicking Loon
The chevrons are meh.
Do we love it?

I want a prestige drama about superheroes minus the superheroes. Ordinary humans trying to live life in a superhero world created without ever coming into contact with supers.

Characters get political to overthrow Wayne/Stark's influence over the govt. Make the rich pay taxes to end poverty.

Keeping this promise tonight for MNUFC in the US Open Cup. Starflake will fly in the Wonderwall if I can find a spare flag pole.
In support of the MLS-rejected Open Cup, I resolve only to bring the rejected Starflake to Open Cup matches.
