Canada’s video game industry is MASSIVE but under-appreciated.
That’s been bothering me.

So, I spent the past 1.5 years asking dozens of AAA/indie devs, actors, lobbyists & more about how to address this & got an incredible range of perspectives! 🇨🇦 🎮

My 2nd-biggest @mobilesyrup.com feature ever:
How to uplift Canadian game makers? We asked them
Canadian AAA and indie developers, lobbyists, actors and entrepreneurs share how we can uplift our often-underappreciated gaming industry.

sort of incredible to read a review that doesn't just made a vague nod at AI being bad, but actively reckons with the ways in which falling obsessively to AI usage actively obliterates the artistic intent and integrity of the work you've made.

Locking in plans to attend The Game Awards for a few days around the show itself. (Devs/PR/colleagues, HMU if you’re doing anything that week!)
Who else is going to be there?

Toronto-based @softrains.bsky.social’s Ambrosia Sky Act One is out today. Haven’t had time for a full review but I really dig what I’ve played.
Wonderfully atmospheric with a lot of narrative intrigue & clever traversal.
A solid foundation that I’m excited to see the team build upon in future acts!

If you’re a writer using LLMs to do your work, I have less than zero respect for you. It is a goddamn privilege to do what we do.

There are a bajillion other ways to overcome creative blocks, not the least of which is being a friggen professional and writing through it.

Great Toronto game dev panel with @ubisoft.com Toronto’s Navid Khavari, @rocketadrift.bsky.social’s @linrocketadrift.bsky.social and @softrains.bsky.social’s @kaittremblay.bsky.social!
Really love seeing this kind of spotlight on talented Canadian devs at a local public venue like Hot Docs.

Really happy for NYC.
Great to see some much-needed hopeful news for our American friends.
I also have a lot of family there so the city has always been close to my heart.
I’m actually going there tomorrow too for a day of fun stuff, so it’s good vibes all around!
