I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

NASA is more than rockets and moonwalks. NASA is behind much of our everyday technology. From space discovery, to Air Jordans, to CAT scans, NASA has played a role. We get it all on less than a penny of every federal dollar. Now their science may be gutted by 50%.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Random acts of kindness are priceless.
This is a really beautiful idea. ♥️
Remember writing a letter “to any soldier“? Reposting something doesn’t do much. I look on Google maps for different federal agencies & mail them a postcard that says “to any public servant, you are appreciated. hold the line.” #HoldTheLine. #chaoticgood

Weekly pep talk:

For federal employees-
1) do your job well because the work you do matters.
2) don’t violate the law and give them an easy reason to target you. This includes the Hatch Act.
3) treat coworkers, subordinates, and supervisors kindly- this crap is hurting everyone.
4) take breaks.

Today is a solemn day of remembrance for the millions murdered in the Holocaust.

On the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, we look to our history as a warning against the dangers of antisemitism and intolerance and honor the promise: never again.

For anyone who's wondering, only 54% of federal employees telework eligible; if you look only at telework eligible, over 60% of their hours are in person. There's so much posturing, the truth is lost.

Federal workers are not lazy. They are not eating bonbons in bubble baths.

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh
