Book blogger. Chaos bard. Probably a cryptid. Mad tea parties, weird folklore, flower language, & swords.

Alias @celanimori.bsky.social

Too many manuscripts. A whistling kettle and a backup kettle. The graveyard. And a girl, very cozy, ensconced in the heart of it all.

Welcome to the garret. :)
A quaint manuscript. A whistling kettle. The graveyard. And a girl running away, in horror.

Me: do we have [phrase] in English?
Friend: you…speak English.
Me: …I know?
According to "regional slang" clues, bookmarkeone has been claimed for Australia, Ireland, Texas, and Minnesota.

Special shoutout to the suggestion of 18th-century Spain.
So there's a regional slang sharing trend going on at The Other Place, and I see no reason not to post my chaotic little answers here:

-so here's the beef
-here's the jig
-here's the cheese
-I do not have a potato in this armada
-what's that got to do with the price of green cabbage

The Lore:
“why is @bookmarkedone.bsky.social a cryptid but @celanimori.bsky.social is just…celani mori?”

People can be normal about books. Barnes & Noble girls with coffees & glossy paperbacks.

Others inhabit used bookstores with stacks continually threatening avalanche, glassy-eyed & smelling of dust.(1/2)

Hounds do not often trust shapeshifters. But mine yip and tumble with the bear that lumbers from the wheat, coat of fur never disguising his scent.

My brother, the wizard, has finally come home.
There is something in the fields. Strange tracks, trampled wheat, eerie noises that set the dogs to barking. Not angry barks, though. Tails wag and tongues loll as they give the "Please let me play with the friend" look. Who do they bring back when you let them go?

There's an enormous cat who lives a few streets down. She somehow figured out a way to unlatch and open the screen door leading into our bedroom. Every night she breaks into our room, curls up on my chest and falls asleep. I've been adopted by a real-life Miyazaki character.

Do I have a writing hangover? Yes.
Was it worth it? Undoubtedly.

Fanfiction springs easiest from works with greatest psychic distance from the protagonist. Without the character’s inner monologue, speculation can explode. Therefore, the trend of first person narration minimizes the interpretive role, reducing imaginative cognition and in this essay I will—

magical. 10/10 experience. do recommend.
Blogging is so weird sometimes because it's like "hey! here are my journal entries where I yap about books with incessant analysis and frequent references to obscure texts the wider reading public has probably never heard of. yeah you can read them. if you want??"

When I was small, a family friend asked me why I was gazing at my water glass. I pointed at air bubbles in the ice cubes and said they were beautiful. She looked at me with confusion. I kept my observations in my head after that in case it was just me. But now I know many of you see such things too.

There is much speculation as to the actual location of the garret and its book-dwelling internet cryptid.

-the collective imagination
- @2probablynever.bsky.social 's attic
- the quiet countryside

Today, it appears to be inside a snow globe, the glittering afternoon light enchanting everything.

One of the cool things about the process is getting from “did I really write that (derogatory)?” to “did I really write that (complimentary)?” 😅

Do not despair, bookish friends. Sometimes persisting in asking authors to get a BlueSky account eventually works. :)

Gina Marinello-Sweeney is here, everyone!! Please make this fantasy author of fruit tarts and fountains feel welcome.

(she’s very charming. You’ll be glad you did.)
