Book blogger. Chaos bard. Probably a cryptid. Mad tea parties, weird folklore, flower language, & swords.

Alias @celanimori.bsky.social

Too many manuscripts. A whistling kettle and a backup kettle. The graveyard. And a girl, very cozy, ensconced in the heart of it all.

Welcome to the garret. :)
A quaint manuscript. A whistling kettle. The graveyard. And a girl running away, in horror.
I should have known the garden was too perfect when I moved in. Crocuses and daffodils, hyacinths and lilacs, a climbing rose unspooling across the lawn. Wildflowers and dandelions, never once mistaken for weeds.

She tends them constantly, humming to herself. My gardening ghost. My quiet company.
Not all ghosts linger due to malice, or unfinished business. More often you will find those who loved so fiercely, dedicated themselves so passionately to something that their spirit remains long after their body is gone. Whose ghost do you meet today?

Man in Durham: How was the 5k?
Woman: Got overtaken by a man pushing a pram and walking a dog.
Man: Oh don’t feel bad. Last year I was overtaken by a guy playing a clarinet.

Me: do we have [phrase] in English?
Friend: you…speak English.
Me: …I know?
According to "regional slang" clues, bookmarkeone has been claimed for Australia, Ireland, Texas, and Minnesota.

Special shoutout to the suggestion of 18th-century Spain.
So there's a regional slang sharing trend going on at The Other Place, and I see no reason not to post my chaotic little answers here:

-so here's the beef
-here's the jig
-here's the cheese
-I do not have a potato in this armada
-what's that got to do with the price of green cabbage

The Lore:
“why is @bookmarkedone.bsky.social a cryptid but @celanimori.bsky.social is just…celani mori?”

People can be normal about books. Barnes & Noble girls with coffees & glossy paperbacks.

Others inhabit used bookstores with stacks continually threatening avalanche, glassy-eyed & smelling of dust.(1/2)

Hounds do not often trust shapeshifters. But mine yip and tumble with the bear that lumbers from the wheat, coat of fur never disguising his scent.

My brother, the wizard, has finally come home.
There is something in the fields. Strange tracks, trampled wheat, eerie noises that set the dogs to barking. Not angry barks, though. Tails wag and tongues loll as they give the "Please let me play with the friend" look. Who do they bring back when you let them go?

There's an enormous cat who lives a few streets down. She somehow figured out a way to unlatch and open the screen door leading into our bedroom. Every night she breaks into our room, curls up on my chest and falls asleep. I've been adopted by a real-life Miyazaki character.

In case you were wondering how my week is going, I just typed “You must bring to this table either boundless enthusiasm or arcane secrets” as part of a normal conversation.

mmm…not daydreaming so much as Daydreaming, serious, deep thought, analysis, consideration, research, detailed musing. A complete knowing. Becoming immersed in every aspect of a story, running your thoughts over it over and over again, if only for production on the stage of your own mind.

Was it worth it? Undoubtedly.
