Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

The House passed legislation today that would charge doctors with a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison for providing transition-related care to minors.

Rep. Sarah McBride strongly condemned the legislation in rare personal remarks ahead of the vote.

ICE just blatantly violated the law and arrested sitting Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes while seeking to illegally arrest a patient in a hospital. Fuck these fascists.

I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

I’ve taken the Senate floor and will speak for as long as I’m physically able to lift the voices of Americans who are being harmed and not being heard in this moment of crisis. Watch here:

Yeah let's talk about this. Evan is, as usual, spot on in saying that "fascism" is the correct and accurate term for what we are facing. I want to talk about American fascism and how it relates to fascism generally. So here is a thread on American Fascism "in context".

This thing that's going on is fascism.

That may sound trite or alarmist or hyperbolic or political... but it's the clearest and most accurate word I have to describe Trumpism and Trump's second administration. And to refuse to use it would be to sacrifice truth for the sake of my reputation.

There are now few pleasant ways out of this.

American politicians need to find one of those ways.

An incredibly well-researched piece on the horrors of Neil Gaiman. It is extremely upsetting and explicit. Please be careful reading it.
