This year’s goal is simple but demanding: move from reaction to intention. Fewer quotas. More time. More observation. Composition as a process, not a lucky outcome.

It's hard to believe we're not too far from spring, but that doesn't necessarily mean it warm up immediately. The day I photographed this, it was early March, and the temperature was about 35°F. It was cold. 🥶

As quickly as I learn, I just as quickly forget that great photography can be found literally in my own back yard, which is exactly where I photographed these lovely autumn trees.

It's been a week and a half, and there is still a lot of snow and ice on the ground. I think I'm ready for spring now, but that's still a little ways away. Until then, I will soothe myself by looking at some spring greenery.

I had to get out this morning to attend a meeting. Driving along very slowly, I passed this snow-covered field with the sky full of clouds and the sun a faint glow. It was the perfect winter scene.

Four very different moments from the Cirque of the Unclimbables.

Named by early climbers who thought the peaks were impossible, the Cirque still feels like a place that resists being rushed or simplified.

Calm and chaos live very close together here.

I would like to think everyone could agree that torturing and abusing any wildlife is immoral and unconscionable. The fact a court will have to decide is simply galling. Even more frightening is that the court could dismiss the entire case.

🚨Tomorrow, a Wyoming judge will hear arguments on whether the case against Cody Roberts, the man who committed acts of torture and abuse to a wolf, will be dismissed.

If convicted, Roberts faces up to 2 years in prison. Justice for wildlife depends on accountability.

I didn’t move. Light and clouds did all the work.
