Seeing a clip from the Ein Þæling podcast (for locals into "veljum Íslenskt Joe Rogan" feel) where "Educationalist" Kristín Kolbrún confidently states that fathers who use paternity leave "have lower testosterone" that those who work.

Guess which party she wants to run with at the next election?

I know things are crazy rn but i wanted to plug my upcoming @cinejourneys.bsky.social course that starts tomorrow night on Zoom at 8 EST: The Birth of Cinephilia. On the one hand, it will be historical: we’ll learn about the postwar New Waves and Henri Langlois’ Cinémàtheque Française

the treatment of Gadzhi and his family by the Icelandic state is yet another scandal of indifferent cruelty, and is a chilling look at how things may end up for non-EEA people in an increasingly authoritarian Iceland in the coming years.

every time a screenshot from this game pops up I feel beholden to explain to our younger readers that the Nintendo Entertainment System sold a Friday the 13th game in which Jason unambiguously kills a series of children, and you lose the game when you run out of children

Was walking by a small protest of people from the Iranian community in Iceland at the prime minister's office yesterday afternoon. What did take notice was that i saw 4 posters/placards with pictures of the former Shah of Iran.

it's chilling the way you *know* some heinous stuff is happening in those camps.
I would be very surprised if a full accounting in the future didn't reveal more than one mass grave at the detention centers. If they're behaving this way in public, what's happening out of sight must be many times more brutal.
Imagine what’s happening in the camps.

ok me and the squad saw MARTY SUPREME tonight. and yes - it's the real fucking deal. Chalamet somehow managed to play the world's biggest, most abrasive shithead yet lovable & redeemable. That one joke (you know the one) cause a whole theatre to collectively gasp "holy shit!"

Have just found out that Roland Barthes wrote about professional wrestling.
To better understand these dynamics, and why they might make for fun entertainment but dehumanising politics, Roland Barthes' text World of Wrestling is very helpful.3/3 web.mit.edu/21l.432/www/...
