Spot on, @bobberzins.bsky.social. Quite apart from the lack of official scrutiny of spring trap use, allowing a crucial part to be homemade ensures this operation is often ineffective & inhumane. Can you imagine the fuss if you could kill dogs & cattle with devices you’d made yourself?

🥾 Visiting Moscar, a grouse moor bordering Sheffield owned by the Duke of Rutland.

🪶 People were angry at the sorry state of the land, due to it being managed for grouse shooting at the expense of all other life

💷 We’re offering the Duke £1 to take it off his hands as it is in such a poor state.

In the continuing debate about food standards and imports it’s worth noting two things:

1: the UK objected to the EU ban on hormones in beef when it came in 1986.

2: prior to joining the EU in 1973 it was routine in the UK for poultry meat to be treated with a chlorine wash.
