"Hold on, bar's empty. Beer?'
"But Michael, I'm gay!"
"Ok, but you still drink beer?"
"Well, yes...'
"Just a sec then."
[I return with two beers, he's staring, a bit weirdly]

Any chance to relate my favourite Laughton/Mitchum story -

Anyway, 10 out of 10, again. (Seeing it on a big screen made all the rightly famous black/white cinematography just feel that much more amazing. It's also notable how in a pitch perfect melodrama Mitchum mostly *underplays* to make the big moments land hard. Laughton knew exactly what he was doing.)
