What’s crazy to me…is the insanity of people literally imploding over undocumented immigrants trying to survive, rather than the companies illegally hiring and knowingly exploiting them for cheap labor.

In her latest ‘Letters from an American,’ @hcrichardson.bsky.social underscores the urgent need to reinforce our democratic institutions. As Cas Mudde observed on Bluesky, ‘the fight against the far right is secondary to the fight to strengthen liberal democracy.’

The Red State Brain Drain Isn’t Coming. It’s Happening Right Now.

As conservative states wage total culture war, college-educated workers — physicians, teachers, professors, and more — are packing their bags and moving to blue states.

Social media is in desperate need of innovation. Meta is only letting you have a slice of control over what you see because Bluesky is here building for you.
We wrote on Saturday about how Meta is going all-out to meet the threat of Bluesky: wapo.st/3OrYxBj

Today they took another step— finally allowing users to set their default feeds to a chronological “following” feed.

Jimmy Carter is one of the few Presidents who cared more about the people than the position or himself. He continues that caring today, living a modest life.

One part of our upgraded infrastructure may affect your profile.

If you see your handle now says “Invalid handle,” please reverify it by navigating to Settings > Change my handle > Type in your current handle > Verify DNS Record > Update.

(Basically, update to the same handle.)

Regarding blocklists, don't blindly follow them unless you have a high level of trust and personally know the creator of the list. Previously on Twitter these lists were used to create division amongst online communities and blindly silenced valuable activists, and unrelated third parties.

Really compelling idea from @wileynickelnc.

He suggests that Democratic leadership appoint a “shadow cabinet” - members of Congress assigned as watchdogs for each cabinet agency, offering clear counterpoints for the Admin’s actions.

The Brits do this. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Dems need an honest conversation on how to counter the endless psychological operation that has been going on since the 2016 election. Stop pointing fingers and get aligned.

“Illusory truth effect”, where repeated information is perceived as more truthful over time, regardless of its accuracy.
My colleague @helenlewis.bsky.social :

One of the mysteries of this election is how the Democrats approached polling day with a set of policies on gender identity that they were neither proud to champion—nor prepared to disown.
