PL starts: 3 [2 wins, 1 draw]
Off the bench PL mins: 3 [3 draws]

Doesn't know the meaning of [PL] losing.

Everton socials seem to go a little mental every time we don't win. 1 PL defeat in 6 btw.

Was it disappointing that we lost and the way we lost yesterday? Yes. Very.

Was it disappointing that we drew 1-1 with WOL, LEE & BHA? Yes.

Have we seen progress this season when compared to last? Also yes.

#EVEBOU notes.

1. We weren’t very good today, but maybe unfortunate with the ‘rub of the green.’ Ages me that turn of phrase.

2. 1st half Ndiaye forces gk to parry onto post. Barry gets volley from gk spill horribly wrong. 2nd half Barry should definitely widen the gap from only a few yards out.

#FULEVE now the dust has settled.

1. MotD on in 15 mins.

2. Another game of two halves. Possibly three thirds this one though.

3. Getting used to this using the bench malarkey, returning dividends.

4. Let’s be honest, got lucky to still be in the game at HT.

#tdd EFC thoughts (Jan 26 window).

1. Happy for Harrison Armstrong to stay for the remainder of the season. Hope it doesn’t mean he’s pushed out to the right too frequently.

2. Tyrique George is an interesting one. Looks very likely now. Another flank option needed, so yes pls.

You won't shoehorn Keane into the team and play 4 CBs again will you Mr Moyes?

Memories from #BHAEVE

1. Got away with one.

2. First game I’ve attended this season and we’ve gained a point.

3. Wasn’t a classic and some of it has to be apportioned to playing 4 (four) centre backs from the off. Defensively it kinda worked… don’t remember a Pickford save. 2 big BHA misses.

Best of Nathan Patterson occurred on the same day we saw the best of McNeil, Doucouré, DCL and nearly everyone. Away at Brighton under the dinosaur.

He had Iwobi in front of him. Everyone played 9 or 10/10. Confident, aggressive counter attack football.

An incredibly important game that day.

Man City 1-2 Everton
Monday December 20th, 2010
Man City were 3rd in the PL going into this match.
Today was the first time in over 15 (FIFTEEN!) years since we last won away in the PL at a team placed 3rd in the PL.
Question for all Toffees:
(answers requested)

At this stage of the season, when did we last win away at 3rd place (or higher) in the league?

FT thoughts. #AVLEVE

1. Barry gets another chance. First touch a delightfully weighted chip. 1-0. Well done TB.

2. Massive 3 points after a bleak week. Suddenly home to Leeds feels harder than Villa away.

3. Midfield 3 did very well today. All got legs and energy as well as work as a unit.
3. Röhl looked useful today. Driving with ball. Getting back quickly. Much better.

4. Good to have Grealish back. Endless calmness.

5. Armstrong good. Garner ditto. Barry poor when he had a chance open up for him. Has to get shot off. And enough time to work gk too.

Just seen McNeil is starting. Just annoying innit. Good luck later, but hurry back Skilliman.

#EVESUN FT thoughts/ fears.

1. We’re not good enough to be without 4 or 5 of our best players & win against PL opposition. Squad isn’t deep enough. Isn’t strong enough.

2. Even with a full strength squad, we’re desperately short in both fullback positions and PL know-how up top. Old news I know.
4. Has Beto touched the ball? 39 mins gone and genuinely can’t recall an involvement. Sure he runs about, a bit… but surely he needs offer deep, show up on the flanks. Can’t have someone that only provides the final touches for a counter attack. We need a lot more.

#EVESUN thoughts.

1. Cirkin clearly fakes head injury for tactical advantage. Scans to see where ball landed, then stays grounded. Moments later, Roefs’ studs lands on Armstrong’s head. Rakes full weight down from jump. Some kind of sickening irony.

2. As I type above, we’re 0-1 down.

Memories:

1. Third round. Mid 20s me, living in London, working with a Millwall fan, invited to pop along with him, behind the goal, home end. Shite game. 1-1 I think. Witnessed all the Football Factory clichés you can count.

Escaped back to safe (soft) North London unscathed.

EFC 25/26, look at possession 21 PL games in.

Reason, spotted this over last two games.

Probably means nothing, but it does mean I'll share this observation with you lot.

Hang on a min... look at the xG too!

#EVEWOL post match thought.

1. It’s better to regret something you have done than regret something that you haven’t. “And [quote] if you see your mom…”

1 of 2.
#EVEWOL pre match thought.

1. Bricking it. Shouldn’t be really.

HT #EVEBRE thoughts.

1. Disappointing.

2. Changes needed & quickly. I’d like McNeil swapped with Armstrong. Probably not the environment he’d want to restart his EFC career, but a common scenario for a young buck.

3. Probably lucky not to be two down. Pickford key.

4. Hope not all lost though.

EFC hopes for 2026:

1. Moyes stays in post.

2. 2025 trajectory continues.

3. A derby win.

4. Acquisition of two fullbacks (proper stand back and say “oh shit they’re investing” levels).

5. New deals penned for Ndiaye, Garner & Iroegbunam.

6. Cash in on Beto and McNeil before value disappears.

2025 EFC reflections:

1. Started with Dyche, ended with Moyes. ⬆️

2. Started looking down at the circling drain, ended calculating the likely number of points for Europe. ⬆️

3. Started with long goodbye to Goodison, ended with long hello to Hill Dickinson. ⬆️

FT thoughts on #NFOEVE

1. Well done Nathan Patterson. 72 solid (enough) mins. Did a job. Caught a couple of times, but tried to play the ball on the deck whenever he could.

2. Tarky outstanding as a captain tonight. Fwds didn’t get a sniff. Kept focus and the fight controlled when odds against.
Was wondering where Patterson had got to. Oh, he’s starting.

#NFOEVE pre game thoughts.

1. With our 1 point in 9, this evening’s game at the City Ground has suddenly made me feel nervous.

2. A draw would represent another disappointment. Four on the spin. A defeat would lift more than a few eyebrows.

FT thoughts… #BUREVE

A) That handball shout from Dibling shot. Need full and thorough immediate inquest into why there wasn’t a visible VAR review with purple boxes and replays.

B) Not got the squad to cope with this many exclusions.

C) Could easily have lost today, so worse points to collect.
5. Only realistic bench options are Röhl and Barry.

I’d love to see McNeil moved on somehow… but Aznou is our only other left foot. And Patterson maybe to give some flank options?

6. If there some way of pushing and playing two up top?

7. Come on Everton, these are shite.
