I recommend Flee (2021) if you ever get a chance to see it. A powerful and humanizing documentary about a little boy fleeing Afghanistan in the early 90s. Beautifully animated.

@bigpapanito.bsky.social As a Dune aficionado, did you watch Prophecy? I was discouraged by the "meh" reception. A friend said it's good and maybe it is?

The most bizarre series of the year? 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Episode 5 was a wild ride.

I must be getting a different algorithm, because it's often serving me these great obscure little indie bands and artists with 5–100K global listeners. I would never have even heard of them if not for the automated recommendation.

Every Discover Weekly is a treat.

I saw Humane (2024) by Caitlyn Cronenberg. I've watched the movies of David and Brandon Cronenberg. Didn't know he has a filmmaking daughter as well!

An ecological thriller with social commentary and black humor. Siblings fight over who has to be the victim of conscripted euthanasia. I liked it.

Vincent D'Onofrio is in Caught Stealing and I didn't recognize him. He truly is the biggest chameleon in the movie business.

Caught Stealing. My favorite Darren Aronofsky movie since Black Swan.

I went in blind not knowing if it's a comedy, a thriller, or a drama. I should do that more often. A wild and energetic film. I haven't really liked Austin Butler's acting so far, but he shines in this one.

No, no, Indie Wire. The correct order:

1. There Will Be Blood
2. The Master
3. Phantom Thread
4. Boogie Nights
5. Hard Eight
6. Inherent Vice
7. Punch-drunk Love
8. Licorice Pizza
9. Magnolia

Haven't seen One Battle After Another yet.

Splitsville was just what I needed this cursed evening. Occasionally hilarious. The same quirky tragicomic vibe as Michael Angelo Covino's previous film The Climb (2019).

He has written both films with Kyle Marvin and they both play lead roles. That fight scene was nuts. A solid 8/10.

After watching Andor and Rogue One, I'm now rewatching the original trilogy since it's all one long continuous story.

I regret not watching the fan made Despecialized Edition. Apparently v3.1 came out last year. They even changed Bobba Fett's voice in the special edition. It just sounded wrong.

I may have to leave Spotify. It's not easy. I have about 80 playlists. I listen to Discover Weekly every Monday. And I like Wrapped.

What's the best alternative? Apple Music? Can't stand YT Music. Deezer? It's European. If I switch, I don't want to switch again.

Post a horror movie everyone should see

"As a mother and daughter struggle to cope with the terrors of the post-revolution, war-torn Tehran of the 1980s, a mysterious evil begins to haunt their home."

Thought it was great.

I love that Spotify lists the cities that listen to a band the most. The people of Chicago have a great music taste.

And 1875 Spotify users in L.A. listen to Swedish psychedelic rock band Dungen. Most of them presumably don't understand the Swedish lyrics.

Wikipedia is still unbelievably good after all these years. Possibly the world's greatest website. I'm continuously impressed. What an incredible resource.

With all the misinformation, disinformation, conspiracy theories, and bias today, Wikipedia has somehow managed to stick to the facts.

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say Weapons is a fun and twisted horror movie. Several goosebumps. I was vibing with it. Julia Garner and Josh Brolin. Same writer and director as Barbarian. 👍👹👍

I rewatched Breaking Bad, El Camino, and Better Call Saul back-to-back at the beginning of 2024. Watching Saul right after Breaking Bad made it even better.

It was such a good experience that I already consider binging everything again. Hands down the best series I've ever seen. Equally great.

The worst part of any normal day for me is going to sleep, and I don't know how to change that. I always procrastinate.

I don't like having my consciousness interrupted. Falling asleep is a chore. If I could drift off quickly and count on a good night's sleep, it would be less annoying.

Together (2025) was deliciously demented relationship body horror with wife and husband duo Alison Brie and Dave Franco.

The best Star Wars droid.

I rewatched Andor S1 before watching S2. Someone suggested rewatching Rogue One after Andor. It really feels like one long, continuous story.

And the original trilogy takes place right after Rogue One. The best Star Wars is in succession. I'm pretending they only made these stories; nothing else.

Andor is making me miss Spain. Another Spanish location, in S2E10. Castillo de Játiva. Whoa.

"The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil."

"...we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest."

I love Andor's anti-authoritarian criticism of the current US government and the Republican party.
