Good morning, #BlueBrewBooks. This week, I finished As It Is In Heaven, by Niall Williams. I see it as being about the randomness of life and love, orchestrated by our own uncertainty.
I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½.

"Heaven" was lighter than expected for a story with many sad events. Stars reduced due to the repetition and wordiness near the end of the book. To me, wordiness is when the author goes overboard in descriptions and character ruminations when you just want the story to progress, or finish. That's when I start skimming 🙄. But overall, a good ending and read. (A bit Gabriel Garcia Márquez-esque.) I set aside a rereading of Erdrich's Future Home of the Living God, a wonderful story, for my current read, which just became available from our library. I'm enjoying The Whalebone Theatre, by Joanna Quinn so far!
