Late capitalism is endlessly refreshing a broken website because the infrastructure you rely on to work is crumbing but you have to keep your numbers up so you don't lose your job in the inevitable next round of lay-offs.

I hate having respiratory issues because breathing is so non-optional that I can't ignore my problems like I usually do.

My job is literally just explaining to people with enormous resources and fancy educations that they didn't read the instructions.

Another tight set of boxes, like prison cells, dropped on our heads. Another moment where an enforced binary grips you with ungentle hands.

I know this is the tiny stuff and much worse things are happening. But the far-reachingness of it all is astounding to witness.

So much of my job is determined by federal regulations and funding. Seeing the tiny little ways that the administration's influence seeps into things is so heartbreaking. One small example, I want this study to offer options besides male and female on a survey but it is DoD funded.

Personally, I know if Kim Deal said this to me my ego would collapse and there'd be someone else walking around in these size 12's.
