I was delighted to catch up with the Harlequin Duck again at Trà na gCloch yesterday. Despite the horrible weather, I was able to sit in the comfort of the car and watch it come and go in the massive surf.

In the very soggy and waterlogged fields there’s some patches of Goblet mushrooms.

Bit excited to have spotted a Slime Mould plasmodium (I think) for the first time. The colour was easy to spot.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Gurt gobs of jelly fungus are appearing in the woods.

Think the dark brown one might be Leafy Brain.

Fresh new little crust fungus on this tree. Also, the underside of one branch looks like it’s been painted a dirty pink. The colour reminds me of Silver Leaf fungus but I’m not sure what it is.

It's #FrohawkFriday, the day we celebrate the butterfly studies & artwork of FW Frohawk.

Today features our very own mini-morpho in our midst, the perfectly fabulous Common Blue. It's a widespread species, found almost right across Britain, and a total delight to encounter.

I like how the Turkey Tail is bang in the centre of this stump and the other fungi are arranged in a swirl. There’s some tiny Grey Disco sprinkled in thar too.

Chilly end to the year. Even on a misty and grey day you can find little spots of (frosted) colour.
