These are in a very thin strip of wood between a field and road. There were even more today, they’ve got a nice spot between the mossy roots of a big ol’ tree.

I think it might be what’s called a Rosecomb Mutation…

Rosecomb: Distortions, lumps and gross malformations occur on the mushrooms. Often gills are present on the top leading to the name rosecomb. Cause: Contamination of the substrate with oil, diesel or distillate fumes.
