Painful to watch G7 host PM Carney butter up Trump. Good grief, why bother? Any “deal” Trump makes with Canada will last only until his next Big Mac; the man’s word is meaningless. Plus, Trump does not want a “deal,” he wants dominance; he's only happy when ripping the wings off flies. #G7 #Carney

Re: PM Carney's call for “nation building projects," why must Canada be obsessed with oil pipelines? How about a cultural pipeline? A project to build world-class film/video studios in every province would employ our multitude of experienced entertainment workers while posing no environmental issues

Wonderful to see a real king speak of Canada's sovereignty. Donald you will never be king, no matter how you try. #Charles III

The late Queen Elizabeth II, responding to a comment about how often she travelled, quipped: “I have to be seen to be believed.” Today, we in Canada saw and believed her son, King Charles III, as he opened our parliament by giving our government’s speech from the throne. True north, strong and free.

This is award-winning actor Devon Sorvari of "Gilmore Girls" who beautifully narrates the audiobook of my latest novel, The Deadly Trade. But today is a sad one for voice actors: Audible will now offer AI narration. Narrating audiobooks has long been a fruitful income stream for actors - until now.

Neologism of the day: Canadiano

Canadian cafés are renaming the Americano amid rising U.S.-Canada tensions.

(For my fellow Europeans: an Americano is an espresso with a dash of hot water - it's a common coffee order across the pond.)
The ‘Canadiano’—Why Canadian Cafés Are Renaming The Americano, Explained
Canadian cafés are renaming the Americano the 'Canadiano.' Is it branding, protest, or just coffee culture at work? Here’s how a name change became a statement.

🇨🇦 I don’t envy Mark Carney - torture for someone who to gets stuff done.

(That’s the longest I’ve listened to 47 and this confirms why)

- Canada is not for sale
- This is the start of trade negotiations

(And a lot of irrelevant and/ or mis- information)

And why would anyone but a fool have bought a ridiculously expensive Gucci purse in the first place? It's a bag like any other bag. Good grief!
Why was Kristi Noem carrying $3,000 in her purse?

Younger Canadians, too, are saying "zee." I still find it jarring.
Younger Brits increasingly say “zee” instead of “zed,” a shift driven by American media. Linguists say it’s a global, generational trend. One more sign of ageing for those feeling out of touch.

I'll never hear it the same way again.

After more than six months 🙈 I have finally published a new issue of my newsletter. I've given the slang section better subcategories, and kept things a bit simpler, which hopefully will mean the next one isn't another six months away!
