Civil servants should be able to provide the policy analysis we need. This is ridiculous.
from government by consultant to government by consultants using generative AI.

decades of degrading government capacity to actually govern has left it open to further degradation through ai hype and perceptions it enables further cost cutting.

I don’t think you can understand the dynamics of the Epstein and Trump and how this much corruption gets suppressed in the digital age without reading Robert Entman’s book, Scandal or Silence, an exploration of the factors that really drive presidential scandal.

Seriously, you need to do this. You'll scroll down until you hit the major events timeline, and then you'll scroll to the right. Keep scrolling-- you'll know when you're there. Must be seen to be believed.

I keep thinking that Trump can't get any more ludicrously awful and yet he daily does

I've received an 'exclusive' invite to try Nature's new 'research assistant', which will burn down a forest to provide a 'summary of the paper' I'm reading and I have SUCH exciting news for them, that's called an 'abstract' and the actual authors already wrote it for me, no forest-burning required.

In about three years the entire university pivot to AI curricula and schools and programs is going to be so deeply embarrassing. We will all pretend it never happened and I will be standing there, looking at people with a mirror in my eyes. This is all so embarrassing.

I think Trump is going to do a Michigan Man of the Year and just invent a fictitious peace prize he won.

What happened to the voters list this year? How many others were dropped off of it and didn't bother to deal with it for all kinds of good reasons?
October 10, 2025 at 1:04 PM
1. I was not on the voter's list.
2. I called and was told I needed to come in person to register.
3. I went down to register, and then was told to come back when my ballot was ready.
4. The postal strike + work travel meant I could not just vote on election day, and could not mail in my ballot.
October 10, 2025 at 1:04 PM
I needed to take 3 trips to city hall this year in order to vote - I was not on the voters list despite living in the same house for 18 years. The average person would not take these extra steps. Voter turnout is partially a function of electoral management. Let us assess our processes, St John's.
