👋 Hi, we’re Unbreaking, a volunteer-run collective working to document our current moment of institutional collapse and its human costs—as well as the pushback and resilience work already underway. We believe this is critical work for building and retaining political agency.

This was entirely foreseeable -- Trump told us exactly what he would do. Everyone who spent a single second of the election doing anything other than working as hard as they could to prevent Trump from being elected should feel like shit about it.
Every now and then I just pause and think that … we could have just elected Kamala Harris, and we’d still have an economy that was the strongest in the world; we’d still have an American-led trans-Atlantic order; we’d be assured that our universities would remain the envy of the world; … (1/x)

the jobs of the future, where you will be a hereditary serf producing goods for your betters
Lutnick: "It's time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future. This is the new model where you work in these kinds of plants for the rest of your life and your kids work here and your grandkids work here. We let the auto plants go overseas."

So, just to get it straight: it is antisemitic to wish that Israel would quit genociding Palestinians. It is *not* antisemitic to pine for an apocalyptic clash between God & Satan, set in Israel, that would result in all Jews dying & going to hell.
SCOOP: The Antisemitism Awareness Act — up for vote in Senate committee tomorrow — now has a religious liberty clause to protect ‘Jews killed Jesus’ statements by Christian conservatives.

New added language in the bill clarifies First Amendment protections.

Why the Antisemitism Awareness Act now has a religious liberty clause to protect ‘Jews killed Jesus’ statements
The Antisemitism Awareness Act's added language says it would not infringe on religious liberty to protect the claim that Jews killed Jesus.

So...human trafficking of minor children, which supposedly was so incredibly important to the GOP mere weeks ago, is perfectly OK if it's conducted by Putin against Ukrainian children? www.blackburn.senate.gov/2025/2/human...

it’s atrocity on top of atrocity
Horrifying: After the contract tracking Ukrainian children abducted by Russia was terminated, the underlying evidence of these potential war crimes seems to be missing, a bipartisan group of Reps just charged in letter to Rubio. Two GOPers signed.

Trump-Musk Scandal on Ukrainian Kids Stolen by Russia Just Got Darker
Data vital to tracking these abducted Ukrainian children may have suddenly disappeared. A bipartisan group of House members wants to know: Who did this, and why?

If we can "avoid a government shutdown" by voting for this CR, then why is the entire Department of Education closed today? Why is USAID closed? Why are hundreds of billions in grant contracts frozen?

We are already in the shutdown. And your votes DON'T stop it. In fact, they allow it to expand.

It is honestly wild to me that Republicans cooked up a bill that would prohibit D.C. from spending more than $1 billion of its own budget, devastating our city services out of pure spite, *and Senate Democrats might actually vote for it.* Utterly appalling. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...
House spending bill would lead to $1B in D.C. cuts. Here’s what that means.
The bill, also known as a continuing resolution, now moves to the Senate, where D.C. officials hope Democrats will help them defeat the measure.

Oh Christ, I knew there was a reason I didn’t want to be here
I have to admit I am still not totally chill about Jack Dorsey's involvement. The guy is promoting a seriously dangerous anti-science demagague for president, and I'd be more comfortable if I knew he was FAR away from here.

The amount New Yorkers will spend on NYPD overtime alone this year could pay for quality rental housing for all 17,000 families living in homeless shelters (including 25,000 children) for two full years.

This should be national news. 1. NYC Mayor pressured his NYPD Chief not to discipline a top cop. 2. For proven corruption. 3. For secretly ordering officers to drop gun charges against a retired cop. 4. The Commissioner resigned bc of this corrupt request. https://t.co/CKgz6KBfwi

When she did anyway, Keechant Sewell figured her days as top cop would end, but a spokesperson for City Hall denies the conversation with the mayor ever took place.

I feel like my generation experienced Peak Internet and we’re now on a downward trend.

Google Search sucks. You can’t trust Amazon ratings. Twitter & Reddit are at war with their users. Every useful news site is paywalled and every garbage one is free.

Turns out 2010s were the good old days.
