Since people are giving Depp v Heard a second look in light of the smear campaign against Blake Lively I feel the need to remind everyone that one of the jurors in Depp v Heard was an actual imposter and nobody cared. That trial was rigged regardless of her evidence.

I wrote about the recent febfem discourse that occurred on twitter - the origins of the term, its connection to transphobia, what 'reclamation' really entails in this context, and thoughts on the reactions of queer people over the original post bisexualarchive.substack.com/p/whats-in-a...

Like. You can always narrow down the characteristics of the specific type of bi person, or trans person, you happen to be discussing. The question is, why is this a topic of discussion at all

And it’s reminiscent of other similar discourses too. There’s so much talk about trans women who have “just realized they’re trans” and supposedly still act like their assigned gender.

It seems like bi women are imagined as “inexperienced” with queerness by default and all of their imagined failures are attributed to that, so when people don’t wanna sound biphobic they make that inexperience just canon in their heads.

But there’s also the fact that when general biphobia is too obvious, people just make up a bi woman who’s socially situated such that everything biphobic belief about bi women would “sound more reasonable”.

There’s the obvious attribution of (hypothetical) shit behavior to past experiences of being treated poorly, which is itself just a regurgitation of myths about abuse and how “hurt people hurt people”.

So there’s discourse on tiktok and the topic is “bi women who mostly date men will act like men when they date women”, with the vague idea being that they’re not used to women’s levels of emotional maturity and are too used to always being right so they get too defensive. And I hate it lol.

It’s just so odd to tell trans women who are into men that we’re not marginalized due to our sexuality because according to braindead fag taxonomy we fall under the heterosexual slot.

At best, we’re always treated as newcomers to feminism or opposition to patriarchy, or newcomers to queerness. We’re kindly told we have baggage to unpack and our attraction to men is a bug planted by patriarchy in our brain that we need to work on.

This is especially true when speaking about bi women and transhet women. Being into men is framed as a reason to distrust us.

The roads to being reactionary are as diverse as people are. This isn’t me saying “#notall” either. This is me saying that people sometimes characterize proximity to cis(het) men as a site of privilege where it’s more likely to be a site of violence.

There’s this idea that certain types of queer/trans people are feminism made flesh and that’s just incredibly frustrating to me. If your feminism brands a group of people who are very likely to be targets of patriarchal violence “unsafe”, it’s shit feminism, idk what to tell you.

The idea that being attracted to men makes certain people “unsafe” and more likely to align with patriarchy, especially when talking about gender marginalized people, is deeply infuriating to me.

NHS England have launched a survey for adults who are using an NHS England gender clinic or have in the past 5 years. Given recent experiences with consultations, it could be tempting not to engage. But we do we encourage trans adults in England to take part (reasons below).

Clarification: bi erasure has been a thing for a very long time. Gay activism has always been largely cis white gays, occasionally cis white lesbians, followed by cis gays OC… Biphobia is something we need to address if we are really giving others their due. (As problematic as the verb «give» is.)

If you want to be an ally to bi+ people, help us by spreading awareness, dismantling biphobic stereotypes, standing up to biphobic "jokes," speaking up when we are erased, and helping us create a less biphobic society so that we can hope to change the general public's view of us someday. 🔚
