So the VA wants to re-evaluate the medical benefits given to veterans based on if the medicine they recieved alleviates SYMPTOMS

Mind you, theres no cure for a broken neck or cPTSD, but apparently if the meds help, you dont need the aid.

One of 2 photos showing my mostly finished work on 5 of Spirits. Ive been drawing on this for about a week now, I got a journal im writing in tandem with my tarot deck. I wrote about Indigenous time keeping and how eurocentric thinking haa us believing its all linear when its cyclical and that oft times the lesson we learned the first time wasn't THE lesson, so we gotta repeat and repeat and repeat. And if we dont respect the past we will repeat the atrocities in the future. We see it time and time again. We HAVE to respect. We have to take accountability. We have to be Brave and Courageous. We have to take into account our lives, both whats in our control and what isn't. We have a duty to our future selves to address the reality of here and now and actually set ourselves up for success. Because what you can control matters. Being proactive about life is finally making the change thats necessary. And it'd about realizing we are ALL in the dark grips of fear, hate, and death mongering. I drew this as a 21st century tarot deck. I drew this knowing my perspective and biased and skewed but that I have a responsibility in my magic to plant seeds. This one requires introspection and active participation in yourself. This is another view of the mostly completed 5 of Spirits. This is my take on 5 of wands. You see chaos and wild magic at the top half of the page, and a lonely shepherd in a shield, blowing a horn, gripping a staff, surrounded by whipping winds and formless shadows. She is summoning her ancestral knowledge as she faces the Unknown. The Spirits dance and ask of her Questions, and the going gets harder and harder. But with her village she will succeed, with her ancestors she finds perseverance, within herself she finds strength. She stands in the face of adversity, in the valley of the shadow of death, fearing not the evils of this world, or the flaming arrows casted by friend or foe. She finds in the lessons learned the ability to stand againat all odds, to rise up and make a noise, to summon and be an active participant in this life. Its not easy. But shes never alone. I drew the 5 of Spirits as my fantasy alpaca fairies called Fleppies. And each one has its own personality. I drew a rather psychedelic trippy chaos to the magic; I percieve magic not as an orderly weave like in D&D but a multi-complex material that folds and curls and knots and is beyond understanding. Yet we glide, weave, dance, run, swim; we are alive and our very essence makes waves. We can dance with the wilderness and let our souls free, or we can be in fear of the ferocity of actually living.

WIP update!

Ive done much more on 5 of Spirits! [ 5 of Wands ]

Yeah I draw like this. I was thinking of Jackson 5, ABC, mainly the chorus when drawing the whimsical seussical shapes. Also Olympics!

So this is another WIP image. The next one on this post has more work done so I guess this is just a progress shot at this point. The image is trippy, theres hundreds of elements at this point, and it just keeps being built upon. All of this is hand drawn then inked with micron pens. Nothing is generative, I literally twitch my hand and make shapes on paper because it delights and mystifies and hope the creativity makes you think. An overhead shot of my drawing. Its taken a while because it is a decent portion of the page now. Everything swirls around a not-center point, giving it a skewed perspective as well as the natural rotation of the image. Theres a massive lot going on but mainly it's spirits dancing in chaotic wild magic, each bringing their own magical personality to the whirlwind.

Remember when I mentioned trippy art?

My friends tell me that they enjoy my art because they wanna color it 🤣

One day. My goal after all 72 are done is to have it printed on a cardstock that allows editing so ppl can color it.
My current render of 5 of Wands. Theres more ink work to be done. Ive erased many times. I used Pigma Micron Sakura pens, pencil, Canson paper. The art is becoming busy/noisy and it doesnt bother me. A lot of my art looks like an acid fest in B&W. Im actually just watching the Olympics. Busy, noisy, there are 5 Fleppies, my fantasy fairy alpacas species I made. Theres a gravity well, black holes, asteroids and molten w.e. depicted as magic in this scene. Im just tryna describe, kinda, for people, this art piece. Sorry for failing. As much as the 5 of Spirits is based off 5 of Wands, I feel like this card is oily in illustration with all the bubbles and swirls and curves. I feel fire is more spikey and geometric, more angles.

So this is a WIP photograph of my artwork. As you can tell its not a small thing ( 11×14 inches is my usual go-to size) The 5 of Spirits is a personal take on 5 of wands- or w.e. fire sign in tarot yall like. This aint traditional tarot and as a 21st century artist and creative, thats fine. Fleppies are an original species I created and here there are 5 of them, each with their own distinct personality as shown by the environmental effects- the aura- each fairy has. There are circles and guidelines drawn, theyre not perfect nor exact. They're there to help me draw in a skewed perspective because the image is drawn so one can see a "fishbowl" affect. It IS a tarot card after all. There is also half a drawing not shown and it honestly IS from the perspective of the shepherd who stands below this spectacle. What im saying is technically speaking im taking a lot of hours trying to plan my next move. Seriously. Art does take time. Its not willy nilly "oh bird drew a line right thar" no fam, its purposeful. Just like LIVIN LIFE is choosing a purpose and not waiting for one. Again its a Tarot card. Be inspired. Let it talk to you, and hopefully its a Proactive take. The swirls and shapes of my drawings are specifically there to let your brain cut through the voices that tell you its childish to give a piece more attention than 15 seconds- id know ive been to museums and yall got a whole lot of baggage to unpack to truly enjoy art, and in respect, life. 5 of Spirits asks much of you from beyond, a place that many cant relate to because the here and now is DEMANDING. but YOU have to make space, to take the time, to be open to the message. Its never easy, but aa there is 5, youre never alone. Be brave. Will you Join them in the Dance? Will you Come? When you are called, dearly beloved, will you meet me at the gate? Will you come and dance with me?

So the only FINISHED example I have. (I got some unfinished)

I gifted this last year to a friend. I DO find skin tones difficult, trying to make it look good and not alien or unhealthy or like a caricature.

Im SUPER proud of her facial expression too. I LOVE subtle expressions.
Some art i drew last year for MerMay. The image is of a woman- a siren- thats the mythological sea critter that sings to sailors and wrecks shit- with a lei on, a crown of feathers, curly hair, a cape of fins, and a tail that looks like a LARGE piece of kelp that would float lazily in the current. A closer look at the woman. I spent effort teyinf to draw her hands, muscle tones and scales. I like her smirk. I like her eyebrows and how she looks at the viewer as if she knows something.

So idk what happened as to why this looks super dark but it is the perspective of the shepherd blowing her horn and above her in the heavens are the 5 spirits dancing in a circle. All around her magic flows as shes surrounded by darkness, grass blowing in an invisible wind that surrounds our lone shepherd. She stands in striking clothing with a single rod, head upturned blowing a horn. Here is another image of the drawing but taken more over the 5 spirits circling in the sky. Below the woman is dwarfed in the shadows as she blows her horn, summoning her spirits. Ive decided to use my Fleppies, a fairy alpaca fantasy species I created for my Homebrew world/campaign, as the Spirit Aspects. Here is an above take of the image, you can see that I got it on a table with table lamps as my light sources in drawing this because it looks super harsh in this photo, lol. I happen to be watching the Olympics while drawing and thinking about life while on bereavement leave. Gives me some power when I create and I enjoy the journey my lines take me.

The fleppie is the left most figure with the facial features of an alpaca plus a unicorn horn, a third eye, and octopus pupil details. The curly mop head frames the face and continues down the neck. Adorning the neck are pom-poms. In Peru the people celebrate a festival and adorn their alpacas for good luck. Similarly the people of Taph take care of, dress, and bless their animals as part of their rich traditions and ceremonies. The woman in the image is also adorning ceremonial clothing: she wears a special head cap with tassles, has her hair up, large earrings like disks, a scarf, a ribbon vest, a blouse that has puffy sleeves and sketched with zigzag lines and assuming itll be colorful like the vest and skirts- ribbon or "coat of many colors" style thick panels that are horizontal. Her skirt/dress is shown in layers and poofs away from her body. One can see she has boots and spurs on, but ceremonial of course. Adorning her forearms are bracers with symbols, with the same thick paneling, assuming itll also be multicolored like the rest of the ensemble. Taph in game has a lot of holidays, festivals, religious rituals and ceremonies, and traditions. Taph is considered a cultural pot, as theres so many people's it seems every day is a celebration of some kind. Just tid bits for people to have to get in character for.

This reminds me of one of my favorite stories. During a Javelin Thrust in Yuma one year, we brought two Navajo Code Talkers out to talk to the comm Marines about doing the job in WW2, get a brief on modern comm gear, and so we could ensure we still had Marines who could say they shook their hands.
