#Bahrain #Birds The loneliest bird in the Eastern Paleartic (population of one) arrived in the spring of 2024, and amazingly, it is still here. The Black Heron, an African species, is surviving well in the tidal pools at the rear of Sanad Mangrove.

The #BirdOfTheDay theme is #underrated.
We have over two dozen sparrow varieties in California, and they would be my pick: song sparrow, chipping sparrow, lark sparrow, white-throated sparrow.

Here's a stunning goldcrest, gleaning through an oak tree at RSPB Broadwater Warren this morning. I watched a mixed flock of goldcrests, marsh tits, and blue tits "popcorning" around this tree for five minutes 😍👑🐦🪶 #birds #birdphotography @rspb.bsky.social

Snow Bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis)
28 October 2025. Mirada Surf County Park, El Granada, California, USA.

A rare vagrant in California. The sharply pointed and attenuated rectrices indicate an immature (formative plumage) and the all dark primary coverts and alula indicate a female.
