A friend told me this was a hot take, but I don't think so. Especially since they look insanely cool, and almost everyone in North America has a chance to see one in their neighborhood at some point during the year. 🪶

Just returned from The Biggest Week in Birding at the Black Swamp Observatory. It was my first time there, and it was amazing. Met some wonderful people and saw some beautiful birds, like this little owl. Definitely going back next year. 🪶

A few years ago I was watching vultures kettling near our home. Later that day, snow started coming down. I saw big shadows out of the window. The vultures were circling our house. Then, one by one, they all landed in a big norway spruce in our backyard. 9 vultures roosted in our yard. It was epic🪶

Sometimes, in a new place i'll listen to a Northern Mockingbird's song to learn which birds are in the area. They repeat each call 2 to 5 times, and keep running through their repertoire over and over 🪶
