"Sometimes I wanna just tell you. Adults here, right? You’ll manage. “Margaret is cheap.” There. Finished. You get it. ... Workshop mafia: SHOW IT. Describe her hoarding hot sauce like it’s the Cold War. Waiter crying. Salsa debate. Ziplocs drying on the rack."

The Northern Lights spread across the night sky in waves of green and purple light, sometimes others, too. This natural display shows us how generous nature can be, as it paints beautiful colors against the darkness. (1/4)

News deserts—communities without local news sources—are spreading across America. Over half of US counties have just one newspaper, often not publishing daily. This creates vast areas where citizens lack access to vital local information. (1/4)

83 years have passed since that "infamous" day. In a world where the events of 9/11 are already fading from collective memory—where young adults in college and children in school have no personal recollection of that fateful day—it is more important than ever to teach the lessons of Pearl Harbor.
Today’s a good day to ask the youngsters in your life, “What is Pearl Harbor Day?” and if they don’t know, teach them. 🇺🇸

I think I use contests solely as an excuse to write. I shouldn't need a kick start, but it helps. I've never won one, but they are fun to use as themes and prompts.

There is such a thing as being too prepared. Competing ideas and second guessing your training, education, and intuition will never produce neither a confident decision nor a successful outcome.

A untold story will never have a chance to be believed, but an unbelievable story will be told forever.

One of my honors is to write a weekly column for the regional newspaper in my area. It focuses on educating people on how they can best govern the government. Because nothing is more dangerous to corruption that a populace educated on identifying corruption.

I know I am one of that flock, though not as a journalist; just as a writer hoping for a platform where content is read for quality and not its vitriolic effect. www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-...
Journalists flock to Bluesky as X becomes increasingly 'toxic'
Journalists are finding more readers and less hate on Bluesky than on the platform they used to know as Twitter.

The written word is the single most important tool in the history of humans. Fire, wheel, medicine, and sliced bread all of their place in the discussion, but written language preserves stories in their original form, share ideas and concepts, and allow teamwork. Without this, there is nothing.

I love the breakdown. Sure learning 'suspire' was great, too; but understanding its root helps so much with comprehending it.
Yes, to suspire is to utter a deep sigh. It’s all about breath, as are ‘inspire’ (to breathe life into an idea/person), ‘expire’ (breathe out), ‘perspire’ (to breathe through), ‘conspire’ (to breathe together), and ‘spirit’, because the ancients believed the spirit was breathed into the body.
Is that like perspiring? so can you suspire?
