DOGE failed. And DOGE is dead. So I guess government can be responsive after all.
Difficult to overstate how profound a failure DOGE was. Spending in FY2025 was not only than in FY2024 – but higher than it was projected to be when Trump first took office.*

The little bit of spending DOGE cut has already killed hundreds of thousands and will eventually lead to millions of deaths.

Popok: The blue states and cities effectively brought the cases. The red states are suffering, and their AGs are sitting on the sidelines. There’s no red state that brought a case. Think about that: not one red state attorney general brought a case to help prevent starvation and suffering. None.

This is … a fair question. And DeRosa, if only for the sake of her own conscience, should think about what a fair answer to the question should be.

Those of us who already knew from Trump’s long hateful history knew, but if January 6 didn’t wake up all of those with their heads in the sand, we’ll never be able to reconcile it. NEVER.
It still boggles my mind that so many people couldn't grasp last year how significantly more morally depraved a second Trump term would be in comparison to the first. And how so many people still can't comprehend that our national crisis isn't about politics, but simple morality.

It continues to be the height of embarrassment that our allies know that Trump is made happy if you treat him like a toddler playing dress-up and give him the crown that he covets or have a merch stand with his branding.

The government shutdown will stop food aid on Nov. 1 for some 42 million Americans. Food banks say they will face a demand they can't possibly meet alone.
