I'm very pleased to share this work, which discovers a new material property of DNA—the bending friction— in essence how "sticky or viscous" DNA is as it bends & loops due to all the complex molecular interactions within itself & water

Trump’s attack can rescue the BBC

Have written for the New Statesman about why, if he will not accept an apology, the BBC should welcome a Trump lawsuit. They should show guts and fight it because impartially matters and if they don't, they will have tacitly accepted a rewritten history.

You've got to ask why promising UK green technology companies — here developing hydrogen electrolysers and fuel cells, which could be critical for storing excess energy capacity of renewables— are being allowed to fail by this Labour government?!

So the left & right both criticise the BBC, so surely they are unbiased??

But BBC is the defender of the currently right wing status quo/centre & interests of those in power.

The status quo may have been more left post war, but right have been constantly pushing it further right since.

Pray tell me why the BBC are asking an investment banker from Deutsche Bank about the UK employment situation and macroeconomics!

Clear left wing bias!!

This is all misdirection. While the BBC continues to fail daily to talk about the facts on how neoliberal economics has failed working class communities and society, we get the right wing zealots sniff blood to push the BBC further right and the country closer to fascism.

I would hope that Lisa Nandy as a Labour minister would highlight the systematic right-wing bias in economic reporting on the BBC: e.g. governments are not households and so they do not need to balance the books, and in fact doing so can damage the economy!

Microplastics is just another example of unfettered capitalism not living within it's means causing damage to ourselves, our planet and ecosystems in which we depend to survive long term. We are unique as a species that as populations grow we use more energy per capita not less!

I can't help thinking that if Cuomo won there would be wall to wall coverage right now about the failure of the "hard/radical" left. As it is, feels this momentous win for the left in the heart of capitalism and finance is being downplayed.

Notable in today's YouGov that the centre/left bloc - Lab/Green/LD/SNP are on 54%. With Reform/Tories on 43%. That's the biggest differential in a long time.

I think useful to track blocs given instability between parties at the moment.

Given that increasing taxation is likely to reduce spending power and growth, you can tell that the government aren't serious when there exists a simple way to reduce gov expenditure: the BoE pays — for no good reason — £20B to £30B interest on commercial bank reserves!

Marginal pricing is a choice that means gas sets the price of all electricity generation. We need to make different choices that brings down prices and penalises carbon emissions.

There was no need for stabilisation of the economy, because it wasn't unstable in any sense in the first place! Conservatives did decimate the economy, but the solution is for gov to spend and not balance the books, which is repeating the Tory mistake!!

Renewables are cheaper and the marginal pricing system means we don't get that benefit and instead the most expensive provider to guarantee energy sets the overall price!

This is a choice and there other choices that would allow consumers to benefit from cheaper renewables!

Why would Hamas want to continue controlling Gaza if they called for release of Marwan Barghouti, who is their political opponent? Sadly, Israel refused his release, since he is likely the strongest chance for forming a 2-state solution. #r4today
