USAID’s website has been deleted, all that is left is a note saying all personnel are now on administrative leave and personnel outside the US are to be brought home. Completely illegal, no act of congress or even executive order was signed to dismantle the agency

Great op-ed on the populist right and "climate change adaptation".
Let's be clear: Adaptation is not an alternative to mitigation! Adaptation means making communities climate-resilient, livable, and healthy for ALL and not for an imagined ethnically homogeneous society!

Here in the Philippines, we don’t have winter, but on the average, our roads can fit 4 cars at a time, our sidewalks can fit 1 person at a time (sometimes, half a person or non-existent), and our bike lanes are non-existent or also occupied by cars.
"A city's priorities become as clear as the spaces they choose to maintain in the winter."

The highest GDP per capita alongside a murder rate 8x UK and 30x Japan. The social malaise that underlies US exceptionalism demonstrates lionising the targeting of economic growth takes our eyes off measuring the things that really matter. Sen Robert Kennedy knew all this in 1968.
