i'm baffled by all the people in the replies to posts about the spy doorbells asking for alternatives. like... the alternative is a regualr fucking doorbell with no camera in it. or a door knocker. get you a weird gargoyle guy! you dont need a camera!

UPDATE, for those who made it thru all 15 posts: My dad is home. He didn't die. I went inside the house. I didn't die. But it was horrible in there. Stinky, grimy, walls peeling, mattresses on floors, pure hoarder mayhem. Like seeing the shared interior of two minds going mad. It should be burned.
(1/ alot) My dad had a heart attack today. My mom, who is in the early stages of dementia, didn't believe anything was wrong and told him he was overreacting. This wasn't the dementia talking. She's always been this way. She thrives on the attention she gets for being as oppositional as possible.

Lately I've been writing the same two characters into different stories. Hack "journalists" for a paranormal magazine in the 1930's. They'll get involved in the plot of one story, die horribly, and show up again in the next one, no explanation. I started doing this on accident and now I can't stop.

Anyone else ever inadvertently mentally cast actors for your characters when you write? Like, without meaning too? My brain always puts this guy in the mix somehow.

For a lot of writers, "success" means "making enough money to create full-time." For me, it means "getting solicited for a story every now and then." Hasn't happened yet, but hopefully I'll get there soon. Because man... Shaking that market tree every day is a draaaaaag.
