1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that

1. Vaccines do not cause autism
2. Tylenol does not cause autism
3. Autistic people are actually pretty swell

So many more thoughts but too angry/frustrated by this bullshit to pull it together. Sending a hug to all my neurodivergent friends and family. Love those freaky wonderful brains of yours.

it is mostly genetics....and autistic women proportionally experience more pain and might use more acetaminophen...and the result of this non scientific announcement is to increase confusion, pain and guilt....
Makary even says in his statement that "The precautionary principle may lead many to avoid using acetaminophen during pregnancy, especially since most low-grade fevers don’t require treatment. It remains reasonable, however, for pregnant women to use acetaminophen in certain scenarios."
The FDA statement ends with a paragraph undermining its own warning.

They signal parents to avoid acetaminophen. Except sometimes. And then:

No “causal relationship… established” with ADHD or autism

AND

Alternatives to acetaminophen have “well-documented adverse impacts.”
