Never really invested much playtime into Oblivion. Fallout 3 was my true gateway into Bethesda RPGs, and it's been super-refreshing to explore. Bit challenging on Expert but that's an incentive for me to keep playing. Still amazed about how Virtuos slapped UE5 on top of Gamebryo to achieve this.

Viktor brought a form of art direction into the gaming industry that was unheard of at the time. Half-Life 2 had become one of my all-time favourites because of the level of environmental storytelling and atmosphere it captures and delivers. You won't be forgotten, Viktor.
It was announced last week that artist Viktor Antonov had died, and it was clear people had a lot of love for him. So I reached out to some former colleagues, like Marc Laidlaw, Harvey Smith, Laura Dubuk and Raphaël Colantonio, who all wrote wonderful tributes.

Been out for longer walks more often and even tried some small jogging bursts, lo and behold it's nice to have most balance back (so far). Also found a neat spot in the woodlands to sit down and watch the Clyde flow by.

So just disregard developmental history and replace it with slop and consider this preservation? Damn, Phil. Really want to appease the shareholders, don't you?
Phil Spencer that's not how games preservation works, that's not how any of this works:

Except in a crowded market it's hard to get attention, players are sticking with games longer, the middle of the market - games that do okay - are disappearing, all of which means there is no way for small studios to absorb games that aren't homeruns hence older small indies closing.

I had a phenomenal time this weekend volunteering - met lots of talented cosplayers (and Moogle drawers). I've no photos myself but this tends to happen whenever I'm in the moment. Roll on #KupoCon!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended Pomfinity! This wasn’t just about Final Fantasy, it was about you, the amazing community that makes it all possible. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we wouldn’t want to. Until next time, thanks for being part of the Kupo family!

Since I'm off work recovering from my hip replacement I've the downtime to de-Windowsify and install a Linux distro - Fedora 41 w/KDE Plasma desktop specifically (the one Steam Deck desktop mode uses).

Thought I'd regret it but to make it brief; everything I need just works for me, and then some 💯

Got home today and recovery is looking swift so far. Here's a comparison my surgeon was able to get for me.

As 2025 approached I was greeted with some good news that after 9 years of chronic pain I'm finally getting my hip replacement surgery on the 10th Jan.

Still having a hard time believing it's real but I can barely contain myself.

Been doing some server hosting on a Linux laptop and delved into Minecraft. Some of the addons are sick af. This one (Bluemaps) creates a webserver where you can view a 3D map of the worldspace on your browser.

Gottdamnb - the Pip-boy based on the Fallout TV series lets you modify the firmware.
