Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face though, right? The problem is that the plans we had didn’t work very well, not that we didn’t have any.
You’re probably right, but I can think of very little else. I said the other day that the only real solution is to buy more players, & I stick by it. Anything we do now is only a plaster over a wound. It looks like my optimism was completely misplaced in the summer & we actually didn’t have a plan 😭

Anyone else amused by all the talk of how outrageous it was that there were only 3 minutes added? There were no injuries and only 6 subs used, 1 at half time, 4 of the others in 2 sets of 2. That looks like 2 or 3 minutes to me.

Talking about Elliott, somewhat wondering what our depth at RW is if Chiesa (who’s obviously had a null season but is at least a similar player to Salah) leaves or is again not fit to play / disappointing when he does.
Does Szoboslai work at RW? Is that actually *less* change than Elliott there?

If you think Szoboslai can play off the right with Wirtz a bit more F9 and a bit less 10 that way, there’s even less need for Elliott. I’m not sold on that, as would be somewhat of a system change, when already too much change but it’s hardly like for like if Elliott comes in RW anyway.

Agree, that plus a lot of issues to resolve, I suppose:
Age profile in attack, Jota decline, Nunez unsuited, Chiesa so far
LB (should have addressed last year, got away with it in league but arguably cost us in CL)
RB to replace Trent
Konaté’s contract (? sell if can’t extend but think we will)
