There are far more advanced Matter smart thermostats out there, but Honeywell X2s has one major advantage in my situation: it has zero learning curve coming from the ancient RTH6350 it replaced and in my situation, that's important. Plus it was $56 shipped.

I'm really starting to really feel like Apple is far more focused on getting commissions than creating creating great user experiences. The business side is wasting what hardware teams are making. They absolutely do not understand or have urgency been with AI either.

Research in motion had a sizable lead and then everything changed. They were too full of themselves and not flexible enough to adapt to the changing market conditions the iphone and Android brought and the Blackberry faded away.
I'm worried whether Apple's leadership can adapt.

Fun fact, while the US Coast Guard does use its own serial numbers, the format is the same as the Naval Bureau of Aeronautics system used on Navy/ Marine corps aircraft right down to the Aircraft type being written above the BuNo.

A little #StarTrek trivia. Jean-Luc Picard was not the first captain of the Enterprise-D. It was launched/ commissioned under a different officer with Picard took command shortly before the series. The EU explained Thomas Halloway had to retire abruptly to take care of his wife.
