Nerd rage continues on Hundred Year Marathon: author claims that 'shi' is mystical and linked to Daoism. Sun Tzu's chapter on 'shi' predates key Daoist texts by at least a century, and Daoist mysticism by several centuries. What a load of crap.

I'm finally giving The Hundred Year Marathon a hate read. Most egregious are its factual inaccuracies, which start early. The author claims the Sino-Soviet split was a closely guarded secret that the US wasn't aware of until 1969. I found NSC documents referencing it from 1959.

The "Drone" sightings issue is probably best understood as a moral panic - think razor blades in apples or the Satanic Panic. Consider: the core conceit is that the Bad Thing is Everywhere and the government is somehow powerless. Only YOU can stop it by...spreading awareness, somehow.
