Bad jokes, good vibes
Rodriguez was cheaper to buy than Maduro - give us his location and mineral rights to your country and in return well support you as dictator for life.
There is…so much going on here, but an all time “raises questions” is what stands out the most.

It’s 2026. This isn’t about oil, it’s about the country’s significant reserves of strategic rare earth minerals, which Venezuela mostly exports to China.

Do you think if everyone in Scotland posts hard enough we could get Westminster to revoke our membership of the union?
The Conservative Party is simultaneously arguing people shouldn’t be jailed for social media posts directly calling for violence, but also that people’s citizenship should be revoked over social media posts they don’t like.

Make it make sense.

Private schools absolutely were - and still are - stuffed to the gills with autistic kids as well. But rich people aren’t autistic, they’re “eccentric” or “gifted”, and have the wealth to compensate, so it isn’t considered to be particularly detrimental unless they’re full-on non-verbal.
Dear RFK, Jr.,
You must have attended private schools. Autistic kids attended pulic school with me in the 60's and 70's. They just didn't have the "label".

A very merry Christmas to all the filthy animals (complimentary), and only the filthy animals (complimentary).

Worked hard to get this into Guardian Oz & big props to @fiercemum.bsky.social for setting it up & Melissa Davey for publishing it. She will doubtless get loads of hassle from transphobes for it, but it needs to be out there.

It is also a much more faithful interpretation of I Am Legend than the Will Smith movie was.
So Pluribus is just an entire tv show of that one Rick and Morty episode?

(Not a complaint, it’s quite good)

Any movie is a Christmas movie if you drink egg nog while watching it.

I sat and passed all 21 exam certificates at the Ounabara Vocational School in Yakuza! Like A Dragon today, despite not being a weeb. What’s your excuse?

Begging. Embarrassed to my core. It’s so, so bad for us but especially for me since my son has a whole other well-off side of the family. I have no one and nowhere to go. Literally 💔 And we deserve to be together on top of all of that (most importantly) 😞 We only have $7,014 to goal!

I wonder how much ChatGPT is being used to write government policy right now? In the UK budget this week, some ideas like the per mile road tax seemed like something ChatGPT would suggest - sounds like it makes sense at face value but is actually a deeply flawed idea when a human thinks it through.

I’m still using an iPhone 11. I was actually going to upgrade this year but the new iPhone is ugly af, so maybe apple sucking at product design now is also partly to blame for killing the economy?

I’m finding that generative ai is leading to an overall decline in trust. My default stance now for any image, video, animation or text whether online, in movies and tv shows or on physical products is to look out for indications that it’s ai generated.

When someone does inevitably launch the first on-demand AI music streaming app, I hope they have the self-awareness to call it Slopify.

The Twisted Metal tv series is easily the best videogame adaptation ever made by a wide margin. So much fun, on a par with Z Nation. Yes, it’s even better than Fallout and The Last of Us.

The thing that infuriates me about this is that we should be using machines to free us of the tedious, manual labor that no one wants to do, freeing us up to spend more time doing things like making art. It’s completely ass-backwards to use LLMs to do the creative things that humans enjoy doing.

Important to remember that opinion columnists are not journalists, they’re just exhibitionists who are inexplicably paid by newspapers to expose their asshole publicly.

Under new head of Paramount David Ellison, the studio has drawn up a list of actors who opposed the Gaza genocide and will not allow them to appear in its films and TV shows.

Does this sound familiar?

Also, "Ellison is reportedly aiming to take over Warner Bros. next."

It sure looks like the likes of Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo won’t be making movies for Paramount in the foreseeable future.
