The Twisted Metal tv series is easily the best videogame adaptation ever made by a wide margin. So much fun, on a par with Z Nation. Yes, it’s even better than Fallout and The Last of Us.

Booting up ARC Raiders to do some solo runs on my lunch break because apparently my job isn’t stressful enough on its own. Need that extra jolt of anxiety to get me through the day.

The thing that infuriates me about this is that we should be using machines to free us of the tedious, manual labor that no one wants to do, freeing us up to spend more time doing things like making art. It’s completely ass-backwards to use LLMs to do the creative things that humans enjoy doing.

Important to remember that opinion columnists are not journalists, they’re just exhibitionists who are inexplicably paid by newspapers to expose their asshole publicly.

Under new head of Paramount David Ellison, the studio has drawn up a list of actors who opposed the Gaza genocide and will not allow them to appear in its films and TV shows.

Does this sound familiar?

Also, "Ellison is reportedly aiming to take over Warner Bros. next."
Paramount Has Blacklist for Stars Deemed “Overtly Antisemitic” — World of Reel
It sure looks like the likes of Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo won’t be making movies for Paramount in the foreseeable future.

One year ago today I posted this miniature Toy Story/Jurassic Park parody photo I created using real figures, lighting and miniature sets. The rain, flashlight beam and headlights I digitally added in the rest is all real.

3. this is not the moment for an incredibly expensive increase in state surveillance infrastructure to be run for profit by private tech firms just before Labour ushers in an (even more) authoritarian right wing government.

2. Countries that have ID cards - like the whole of Europe - still have the same irregular migration problem (you may have heard!!!)

& in fact the UK has the lowest share of its economy estimated as irregular economy in Europe so if it fixes the issue WHY DIDNT IT FIX IT THERE?

Ok. They’ve pissed me off.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

Starmer is done. Labour needs to find a new leader and pivot away from trying to chase right wing policies. Trying to mimic Reform isn’t working.

Anyway, back to what’s actually important: Donald Trump drew an image of a naked prepubescent girl, a child, for his convicted child trafficker friend’s birthday and everyone in the news keeps referring to it as a drawing of a “naked woman” which is really fucked up.

I sometimes wonder to myself why even ostensibly left-wing parties and governments are swinging towards hard-right totalitarian policies and then I remember that we’re barreling irreversibly towards a total global ecological collapse with no way to stop it.

Instead of trying to build a real AI, they've just tried to build something which can convincingly and consistently pass the Turing test, but rather than the Turing test proving that LLMs is capable of thinking, LLMs just prove that the Turing test is a flawed method of testing real AI.

This is what people get wrong about Captain America as well. Both are seen as American propaganda, but they aren’t supposed to represent what America is, but what it could be. With the strength they have it would be even easier for them to be selfish, who could stop them? But they choose not to be.
I think we need Superman most when it’s hard to be a good person. He’s ultimately not great because it’s easy for him to be kind, and ethical, and relentless about both. He’s great because it’s so easy not to be. He’s an embodiment of a choice to do the harder, kinder thing.
