Software engineer turned medical student in Derby.

New Brompton owner, but I’m not going to mention it again. From now. I promise.
Med school achievement of the week: I can definitely probably spell pneumonia right on the first try now.

Very chuffed the distinction for my Global Health MSc from @citystgeorges.bsky.social has finally been ratified. A lot of hard work went into that and it was a perfect year easing back into education.

Very excited for Philip Pullman's The Rose Field to be released later this week. Though considering the amount of tears I've shed for Lyria over the years, I'm also pretty apprehensive that this really could be the end of her story.

A great article here from @samfr.bsky.social on his recent NHS experience. I’ve been wondering how staff could feel these kind of challenges for themselves. Following patients (rather than be based in departments) would be valuable experience for us.

I was VERY annoyed this morning to learn that, on second watch, one of my professor's lectures is much more reasonable in terms of content, detail and context than I felt it was a few weeks ago.

Damn you, Professor A, don't you know I've got feels of inadequacy to misplace as frustration at you!

One thing I love about the Traitors is you really get a very profound insight into a country culture, and we really do love to kill the clever ones.

Na. I show up on time to the things I'm asked to attend and don't talk over others - seems to do the trick.

Was surprised to learn today that the VALUABLE service of private healthcare, that people can choose to ADD to the services they pay off, isn’t VATable.

As public schools finally have to charge VAT, is this what we’ll argue about next for 20 years?

I'm trying to think back to when I was teaching, would I say something wasn't important to understand and then talk about it for 20 minutes? ...Probably all the time.

(This is of course in no way connected to my current experience as a student.)

I’m a few weeks into med school now and I’m starting to think potassium and sodium might be important.

Oh no. Google has informed my cloud usage is 25% full! It's exclusively used for my 10 year old email account. This is going to be a real pain in the arse to deal with in 30 years time.

- Brooklyn 99
- Staff lets flats
- What we do in the shadows
- Office US
- Spaced
- Grand Designs
- Rick and Morty

(There must be more British ones I’m forgetting…)

Just watched a blurry 30 second video of a bacteria being chased by a neutrophil, while dramatic music playing over the top. It's brought tears of joy to my eyes. ...This may suggest my emotional states is currently more flimsy than I'd like to accept...

@dropout.tv My dear old dad just spent £100 on postage to get me a single tee from you. That's how committed to quality merch he is and uninterested in climate change*. And totally not because he didn't notice the P&P line.

* = I assume the £100 is to hire a private plane.
