Saw @benefitstheband.bsky.social in Coventry last night. Amazingly good. Unlike anything I’ve seen before. Go see them at @bedfordesquires.bsky.social on Sunday. Full tour details here: www.benefitstheband.com/live

I know. This is not the platform for black square text blocks. But we’re going on tour on Wednesday and I’ve a load of samples to sort and I haven’t packed yet.

You know what doesn’t work on Bluesky? Videos. Videos with text. And swearing. And noise. And ones promoting a music tour. None of that works.

Made some old school panini style stickers of the band and tour collaborators for the November merch desk. Come to a gig and get em!

Just hope no one minds that all these flags popping up across the country have all been part of an elaborate marketing campaign for our ten date November tour of venues with a capacities between 100 and 250.

Been audiobooking this as it’s read by Reiner and Tap. If they want to continue with the Tap brand they should make a period piece dramatisation of the book, it’s incredible. The backstorys, how they connect, how they graft to get it made etc all hit better than the sequel.

All these tatty flags gonna just stay there are they? Council just gonna leave them and act like it’s totally normal?

I’ve had more interaction and engagement on the ol insta with a couple of pictures of old Volvos I took while at SWN in Cardiff than anything else this month. Which tells you a lot about a) our demographic b) our popularity as an experimental noise act.

Neptune is bigger than Mercury fyi, albeit full of gas…!

Either way, please vote for our difficult second album in this @drownedinsound.bsky.social prize vote!

Probably my favourite Kate Bush song. The old band covered it in 2011, I love our version, video done by my friend Andy, who later made the Benefits video Warhorse.

Sorry to interrupt your arguments. We’re doing a show in an art gallery next week with James Adrian Brown as collab and Oliver Ho playing after. Gonna be mint and if you have a TS postcode it’s only 50p to come. Ok, back to shouting at each other.

We’ve persuaded Dan Le Sac and THE DSM IV to join us on tour in November! Dans doing the south and THE DSM IV (featuring Guy McKnight of Eighties Matchbox b-line Disaster) are doing the north! GET ON IT!

Friends! Be an absolute star and vote for us in Drowned in Sounds Neptune Prize please! It’s the alt competition to the Mercury and it’s a pure buzz to be nominated alongside some legends and heros. We put everything into making this album so to be recognised in this way means a lot. Vote!
Disappointed by this year’s Mercury Prize list?

We had this feeling back in 2008 and set up an alternative prize. No entry fees. Our community of music lovers recommend records for the long list.

We’ve listened to over 100 nominees and here’s our 2025 Neptune Prize shortlist
Drowned in Sound's Neptune Prize 2025 Announced

Messing about in Europe last week playing the hits as the world burns.
July 10, 2025 at 1:57 PM
We’ve been farting about all over Europe the last couple of weeks and it’s took me away from me real passion - hawking gigs and tours most of you aren’t interested in, (obvs, I’ve seen the sales figures). Anyway. We’re awesome live, you should come see the full shabang as soon as you can.

All this talk of a new party with Jezza and Zarah made me reminisce of the glory days of Twitter, literally days before everything went bad.
