Pyrrhonian scepticism vs the "scepticism" of the conspiracy theorist!
I just had one of my Intro to Philosophy students tell me that she successfully used the Five Modes of Agrippa on her father after he tried to browbeat her into believing that Tylenol causes autism.

This, folks, is the reason I teach Pyrrhonian skepticism every semester.

Annalisa Coliva - 'Wittgenstein and Social Epistemology', free to download for the next two weeks - it's presumably in part building on her chapter in the handbook, which was on social hinge epistemology:

It's comforting to know that wherever I turn in my research, Robert Fogelin has written something on the subject. Does anyone else have a Fogelin-esque figure like this?

I watched Stuart Little recently. Once you realise that Hugh Laurie's character is Gregory House hallucinating about the rat he found in season 2, the film improves dramatically.

Here's a question for anyone doing interpretative work. How do you weigh philosophical plausibility with textual accuracy? This question has been on my mind a lot after doing some work on Hume's scepticism about the senses in the Treatise.
