Why do the Russians seemingly love the Tsar and hate democracy? Well, millions of them are hereditary members of a state-protected group that are guaranteed stage jobs of the 'go beat up your neighbor and extort them a bit' flavor. Democracy is counter-indicated to their class interests.

I cannot fathom why 4 successive PMs failed to be transparent about the need to increase taxes for defense. And guess what? Strengthen the army by fivefold. ASAP!
