It's been a loooong time since I posted a 'snowy flask and legs' pic 😆 So a welcome return to the snow, and to coffee stops in the snowy hills 🙂 Lovely bike & hike up Carn a' Mhaim today, although as is tradition on my first snowy walk of the season, I was shocked at how cold it was in the wind 😉🥶

What a contrast! Wild winter adventures above Glen Feshie in the #Cairngorms today, and then down to a lovely, peaceful and sunny Caledonian pinewood below.

Centuries of overgrazing & muirburn for grouse moors mean Highland Scotland looks treeless & desolate. But it doesn't have to be this way. New film Scotland's Missing Forests went online y'day. Chuffed to see almost 10k views. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuTV... @chrisgpackham.bsky.social

Heads up - it's been a long wait this year but don't be complacent - looks like proper winter conditions are finally arriving on the hills. Think about the kit you need and remember to check the MWIS Mountain Weather Information Service or @metoffice.gov.uk mountain forecasts.

This egret looked at me like it was judging every life decision I’ve ever made.
Can’t argue with that, to be honest.

Not what we expected on a September trip to Torridon, but a good reminder to prepare the pack for winter.
Great to be out with @redropescot.bsky.social pals. A cold wind, but we got lots of ☀️ too.
