Our Soot Stained Heart is of the most impeccably crafted comics I've ever read. It was actually a difficult comic to review purely on the basis that it felt like it was operating on a different playing field than most comics I've read in recent years.

I loved graduating from college to watch the industry I tried to get in to get ripped apart and turned into insultingly low-pay freelance gigs. All love and respect to the indie sites that are still putting in the good work partially just out of spite.
"where is all the good writing about games" now replaced with "where is the money for good writing about games"

Wanted to take a moment to talk about how much I love this podcast. I've learned so much about the games medium from Jared and his guests and it's one of the things that pushed me to dip my toes in writing about video games. Beyond happy that this series is back and can't recommend it enough.
The Top 100 Games Podcast is back again with IGN's Seth Macy and a healthy dose of Turtle Power!

The decline of third spaces and hangouts, such as malls, video rental places, arcades & skate parks has been a direct result of the rise of convenience and has also been objectively bad for society as a whole. Its not that everyone HAS to socialize, but having no option to without bars is a failing.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Trachtenberg is doing the kind of storytelling in Predator that I've wanted to see since I was a kid, but with a sincere focus on human storytelling. Killer of Killers slams, and I cannot wait for Badlands.

Ever since we were introduced to the galaxy’s greatest trophy hunters back in 1987, fans have wondered what it would be like to watch a Predator go toe to toe with history’s greatest human warriors. While the Dark Horse era of Predator comics covered this territory from time to time, seldom have we seen one of these […]

Love, Death & Robots: “400 Boys” – A Graphic Novel in Motion
Animated shorts have always been the closest bedfellow to the comics medium. From adaptations in the form of anime, to Western comic-book superhero cartoons, this fact has been apparent in the mainstream for many years. This fact shines brightest, however, when animators are given the freedom to use their visual storytelling craft to make something […]

i strongly agree. i also think if you want to be any good at talking about art, you need to consume as much art as humanly possible and talk about it all the time. each piece of art is in conversation with a thousand different other things.
my personal idea for games media is that future publications should not merely aspire to be games publications, but arts and culture ones. Games-focused shops should still exist, but I think one path forward is to start with the argument we’ve been making: that games are part of culture

Absolute travesty. I just recently *rejected* a position from Valnet because they're such a garbage company. Really feeling for the folks at Polygon.
