Insert witty catch-phrase here.
Frakking brilliant. And I thought panels-over-parking-lots was the way to go.
"Putting solar arrays above water can help keep panels cool, in turn improving their efficiency and electricity output. Shade from the panels can also prevent water loss through evaporation in drought-prone regions and can limit algae growth in waterways." Looks good too!
California's first solar-covered canal is now fully online
The 1.6-MW pilot system is among a growing number of initiatives to put solar over waterways. The approach could generate gigawatts of power nationwide.

I almost forgot, fellow babies: BOOGER!
Miss old school radio? Yeah, so do we. But some genius decided to create six magical hours of WKRP in Cincinnati programming, featuring DJ breaks by Dr. Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap (taken right from the show.) Check it out: www.awphooey.com/ohio

Every tech update now is like: "Great news, the word processor you've relied on for twenty years has learned to juggle! Is it good at it? No! Does it help in any way? Of course not! Has it made it insufferable to use? Oh, absolutely."

I think it is underappreciated that Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi made a ten episode TV adaptation of the Oregon Trail video game that was deeply faithful to the source material

#ELI5 What is the #algorithm for the #discover feed? I know, I know: everybody says #bluesky doesn't have an algorithm; you build your own feeds! But there's got to be something behind #discover; it's not a raw #firehouse.

Free To Be...You And Me, 1972. The best children's album ever. Seriously, Marlo Thomas, Alan Alda, Mel Brooks, Diana Ross, Jack Cassidy, Harry Belafonte, Tom Smothers, Dick Cavett, etc....

REMEMBER

If you encounter a goth in this hot weather DO NOT PICK THEM UP

Instead, put a couple of drops of patchouli oil in a teaspoon of water and leave a Bauhaus album next to them, and they should recover pretty quickly

During my screening of Thunderbolts (aka The New Avengers) today, halfway through the screening the film stopped and the house lights came up and the manager came up on stage to tell us that the movie was now called "Great Value Suicide Squad", then the film resumed

If Disney is going to do "live-action" (CGI) reboots of its various classic animated films rather than using puppets, why did they even buy Henson at all?

I have spent the week with someone who has dementia and let me tell you it is an ironclad argument for the power of music, especially popular song. Go listen to your favorite songs. Learn the words. Sing along. They will keep you company to the very end.

I finally see something non-political to boost, and it's still "the world as we knew it is over" doom-scrolling. :(
Nine years ago today the world lost a musical genius. RIP

Starting to see posts for #VinylDay and #RecordStoreDay so I thought I'd share my favorite vinyl...

I have a Columbia House misprint with Supertramp Breakfast in America side-A and The Police Zenyatta Mondatta side-B.

I’d say that around 75% of posts that I start writing a reply to, I then decide it’s probably not worth the hassle to reply, and delete it. Typing it just gets it out of my system. Anyone else do that?

#ELI5 What's the difference between Feeds and Lists? I never really took to Twitter or Mastadon, so I'm not yet familiar with this type of platform.
