Left the "other place" to come here where there's some sanity.

I'm not mean. I try to be nice. I don't like stupid.

⚠️ URGENT: Danielle Smith has invoked the Notwithstanding Clause to force teachers back to work, in addition to her plan to use the Clause to override trans rights.

This is unprecedented and violates rights, overrides the courts, and puts everyone’s rights in danger.

URGENT – Stop Alberta's government from overriding the Charter of Rights
Alberta Premier Smith plans to use the Notwithstanding Clause to pass laws that erase rights and silence the courts.

What Noem said is crucially important: “‘We are not going away. We are staying here to LIBERATE THIS CITY from the socialists….’ The Trump administration is vowing to get rid of the democratically elected government of California by using military force. THAT THREAT IS THE DEFINITION OF A COUP.”

Trump slapped down. Should be some interesting orange posts at 3:00am tomorrow.
The Constitution sets forth limits, and that includes the President of the United States.

Today, the people won.

This is not good.
CNN: We have breaking news now from the Pentagon. CNN can now report that roughly 500 Marines are being mobilized in response to the protests in Los Angeles.

Follow this post for updates as they're happening in San Francisco. As of 2 minutes ago, police and protesters are toe to toe.
Heyo! I am in #SanFranciscoCA where a "ICE OUT OF THE BAY" protest in front of the Sansome St. ICE office was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

So far, approximately. 75-100 people are here, many holding signs and a a lone SFPD officer is attempting to manage traffic on the intersection.

Should have been this way since the beginning.
Wow. This is major news. Judges discuss moving the U.S. marshals from the executive to the judicial branch. Not only would they protect judges from trump threats, but it would also make it easier for courts to order marshals to carry out court orders.
“Judges Weigh Taking Control of Their Own Security Amid Threats” — because the Marshals answer to Trump, per this extraordinary scoop from @WSJ.com www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

Trump's Department of Justice serves three purposes:

Declare that whatever Trump wants to do is legal.
Dispense favors on Trump's political allies.
Investigate and punish Trump's political opponents.

It is a dangerous three tiered system of justice that is leading our country down a dark road.

Trump's a bully. Stand up to bullies and they'll show you the weak person they are. Way to go Mills. You showed him.
When famously squaring off with President Donald Trump over education funding, Mills said she would see Trump in court. She did just that, and on Friday she won a settlement for her state, for the kids and for people everywhere who needed to see a certain asshole bully get punched right in the eye.
Janet Mills beats Trump and lets him hear about it

Elon Musk may or may not fulfill his promise to step back from DOGE.

But his legacy is already clear: He is assembling a sprawling domestic surveillance system — the likes of which we have never seen in the United States.

Opinion | Elon Musk’s Legacy: DOGE’s Construction of a Surveillance State (Gift Article)
DOGE is rapidly assembling a sprawling monitoring system, the foundation of many authoritarian regimes.

The crunch is coming. It’ll start being felt in a couple weeks. Brace yourselves, my American friends. Those of you who voted this shit in can go fuck yourselves.
Not a single international cargo ship at the Port of Seattle. The port is dead. The last ship from China will dock at a West coast port on the 29th, and the last Chinese ship will dock on the East coast around May 10th. After that, there will be no more shipments arriving from China. We’re screwed.

More art of the deal….
Trump: "If we don't have a deal with a company or a country, we're gonna set the tariffs. We just set the tariff. That will happen I would say over the next couple weeks. Over the next two, three weeks."

The Trump administration literally just cut the contract for ongoing audits of the Prison Rape Elimination Act, the extremely bipartisan law (unanimously passed in 2003) that requires jails and prisons to take rape seriously and adopt policies designed to make it less likely to happen.
From @reuters.com: The Trump administration has canceled hundreds of law enforcement grants that funded everything from services for mental health care for police officers to support programs for victims of crime and sexual assault
