“‘Horseglue’ is a screeching call for moral clarity,” I explained in a statement to media, including @pitchfork.com about the news industry’s complicity in genocide and authoritarianism. “It is important to focus on how integral the Messengers really are, and that some of them are the 1%, too.“

My band Ekko Astral is releasing our first song in a year — “horseglue” — this Wednesday on @topshelfrecords.com.

It is a deeply personal call for moral courage aimed directly at the beltway media elite.

Share this widely & brace yrselves, this is the hardest song we’ve ever dropped. 📰 🩸

is anyone aware of 'consumer' alternatives to Anubis?

i can imagine many artists interested in using this for their website (i'm one of them), but 99%+ of artists wouldn't know the first thing about implementing this, if it's even possible to do so with their hosting plan.

lots of thrilling stuff planned for it but we’re looking for sponsors to help make it happen.

does you, your business or your friends want to help raise money for direct action?

“Rents in Montreal went up by an average of 7.7 per cent in 2023, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, even though the TAL's recommended rental increase was much lower than that. Rent climbed even higher — by 10 per cent — in units with a new tenant.”

i want more people in music to be committed to this sort of long game. lack of archival interest/foresight/infrastructure is one of our biggest weaknesses in our fight against the various manifestations of platform capitalism.

i found this SO inspiring. i wish more people in music treated their work like a sort of archivism. record labels are century-scale storage!
Here it is, the longest piece of nonfiction I’ve ever written, CENTURY-SCALE STORAGE. The kind folks at @harvardlil.bsky.social let me investigate the present and future of digital storage, and how we steward and preserve our most treasured cultural objects lil.law.harvard.edu/century-scal...

finally tried out faircamp, essentially a self hosted bandcamp, with fewer features. i like it so far and think i'll commit to using it to serve streams/downloads for now. it's in alpha tho so would only recommend if you're already running your own website and not afraid of basic command line stuff

people responding to this like “what is an alternative to substack?” as though substack invented websites or newsletters. there are MANY and I can’t think of any of them that are anywhere close as expensive to substack to use
substack just announced a new enterprise media offering (whatever that means) in partnership with bari weiss’ website “because of its commitment to pursuing high-integrity journalism.”

if you’re still publishing there, it’s time to get the fuck out.
